Via Gallup:
PRINCETON, NJ — While 67% of Americans view President Barack Obama favorably, his overall job approval rating and his ratings on specific areas are less positive. At the low end of the spectrum, only 45% of Americans approve of Obama’s handling of federal spending, and 46% of his handling of the federal budget deficit.
Oddly enough, his handling of the economy – an issue which we know includes spending but apparently others do not – was at 55% approval. Go figure.
Better keep pushing that gabillion $ healthcare plan and ramping up that stimulus spending, Mr. President, before even your personal popularity ratings start to fizzle.
Doug Bandow adds:
[The spending and deficit approval ratings are] still too high. After all, he is dedicated to dramatically hiking federal outlays, not reducing them. Nevertheless, there is hope that people increasingly will watch what the man behind the curtain is actually doing. Then it will be up to the Republican Party to provide a credible alternative.
Yeah – if they can get it together.

According to Gallup, they polled 1,015 adults, aged 18 and older from May 29-31, 2009, the lowest common denominator in political polling. Polling people who may not vote and who may get their news from Entertainment Tonight helps explain why their approval on economic issues is as high as it is.
This is the only thing I found good in the “leaked” version of the Kennedy bill ..
The bill defines an “eligible individual” as “a citizen or national of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence or an alien lawfully present in the United States.”
It does leave a door the size of Texas for political games with the definition of “ lawfully present”.
“Then it will be up to the Republican Party to provide a credible alternative.”
Aye, and there’s the rub. How many more McCains and Doles, or even Bushes can the Republicans throw at their constituencies before they really do become irrelevant?
The only reason W won in 2000 was he claimed to be a conservative. The only reason he won in 2004 was he was not a dangerous America-hater. But the out-of-control spending of Republicans caught up with the socialist-lite McCain, and now I know the conservative base of the party will want bonafides before committing to another of the party’s leadership’s candidates. “What I will do” has no meaning now, only “what I have done.”
…..personally liked, but he sucks at his job…..WTF? Can we stop polling the *Feeling Fairies* and ask the real Americans?
ST, can I use your patented tag line?? Just this once?? Pleeeeeeze???
Toldjah so!
Oh, and there’s more. This via Rasmussen:
Time to start hammering away at “It’s the economy, stupid”, don’t you think?
GWR, You Are The One We Have Been Waiting For!
Ya know, when parents get divorced the kids tend to like stayin’ with the parent who lavishes the most goodies on them, at least until they grow up and realize how badly they’ve been used.
Wonder how soon the voters (not to mention our elected “representatives”) will grow up and see how badly His Hollowness has used them for his own (very evil) intentions?
Apparently, BHO exudes charisma as far as a lot of people are concerned. People want to like him. I’ve read that reactions to Hitler were much the same.
Well, most people. When they start to analyze his policies and scrape away his veneer, however, they’ll find a Marxist.
What does this mean?
