Remember all the wild-eyed accusations against the Bush administration about their alleged “war on science”? CBS reports about a potential scandal involving Obama administration EPA officials allegedly suppressing a report “that was skeptical of claims about global warming, including whether carbon dioxide must be strictly regulated by the federal government, according to a series of newly disclosed e-mail messages.” Make sure to read the links at the CNET to get the gist of the report’s claims, and to read the EPA’s response.
John at Verum Serum makes an interesting point about when news about this story broke:
Yeah, I guess that would have been inconvenient, especially as the President was pushing through his Cap-and-Trade energy fiasco to reduce greenhouse gas emmissions this week.
Note that the CBS story was published Friday night at 11PM. The New York Times version — headlined in such a way that it fails to mention the suppression angle — was also published sometime Friday. Coincidence?
Not likely.

Yup. The global warming crowd has a belief system that borders on the religious, and they can’t tolerate any dissent.
If there is one thing today’s socialists (also known as Democrats, liberals, leftists, “moderate” Republicans and moonbats) can’t stand it’s the personal responsibility valid science puts on the student, researcher and/or reader. Examples abound, but suffice it to say MMGW is at the top of the list for science skewed to fit preconceived notion.
Thanks, all you rock-solid public school science teachers for teaching students how to discern whacky science from real research, and to the rest of you public school teachers for supporting those incompetents who wouldn’t know real science if it bit them on the tush.
And thanks, Algore, for schlepping this garbage science on all of us. It’s all about control, not science, but most of the voters are too dumb to see that (see the previous paragraph for explanation).
I suspect that when the Paleo-Indians first made their way down through what is now Alaska and finally into the United States they were amazed to see the great glaciers melting and quickly decided to make their campfires smaller to avoid the onrush of rising ocean waters. And I’m also sure as the mighty glaciers continued to recede they began to pray to the gods of old to save them from impending disaster and eventually even offered human sacrifice to avoid the coming peril.
Sadly things haven’t changed much in 15,000 thousand years and again some are called for a dimming of the campfires and I suspect will eventually get around to sacrificing a virgin or two if any can be found.
