Quote of the day – from George Will

Posted by: ST on October 19, 2009 at 2:10 pm

Via Newsbusters, from yesterday’s This Week w/ George Stephanopoulos:

GEORGE WILL: I’m very puzzled by the argument about how we’re going to pay for [healthcare reform], which seems to be the big problem right now. This is a government that right now is borrowing 43 cents of every dollar it spends. We’re going to pay for this the way we pay for everything. We’re going to borrow the money from the Chinese.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: The president says we’re not. He says if it increases the deficit, he’s not going to sign it.

GEORGE WILL: I know…

(CROSSTALK)

GEORGE WILL: … sentences that begin “The president says” are not as impressive as they used to be.

Amen to that.

  1. George Will… Master of the Understatement. God I wish Bill Buckley was still with us. He’d have crushed every Obama WH staff intellectual pipsqueak within 3 minutes of engaging them.

Not only are they not as impressive, but they should also be taken with a warehouse of salt, wait ten minutes for the lie to come out in caps, and totally ignored by anyone not dependent upon the transposed thug and not from the original hood.

Not as impressive?!?!?! I’ve arrested crack users who are more impressive and have more credibility than the president.

    Sheesh!

Will understates the case. Sentences that begin with “The president says” now come under immediate suspicion, as would the statements of any other Chicago machine politician.

It’s very much like his favorite phrase: “Let me be clear” (OK, second favorite after “America is wrong.”). As soon as I hear that, I know the intention is deception and what he is about to serve up will be (at best) a half-truth main course with a generous side order of blame-Bush.

It’s no wonder that after only 9 months in office, most Americans are sick of seeing and hearing him.

Too late now. I fear for my three children that it is entirely too late now. And the more sickening, depressing, incredulous thing is that the libtards in this nation are still clamoring for his greatness to be revealed. What does it take?

  6. Carlos says:

“…are still clamoring for his greatness to be revealed.”

Heck, Jo, ya just cain’t reveal nuthin’ if it ain’t there!

  7. Bill says:

I think George missed something here. Obama found out he doesn’t have to borrow any money to pay for his socialist agenda….he’s got the keys to the printing press. Obama and the Comrads are just going to print more money to pay for everything.

But wait, isn’t that what that intellectual giant Robert Mugabe did in Zimbabwe? What a success story that was. Inflation of almost 1 million percent…people using trucks to carry enough money to buy 1 loaf of bread.

Memo to stock broker: Invest heavily in companies that make wheelbarrows?

  8. Ted says:

“The president says” is the code phrase for “KGB approved lie”
