Scott Brown surges in MA

Check out the latest polling numbers, and AJ Strata’s analysis of those numbers, here. Absolutely remarkable.

Is it possible? Can the GOP pull off what would have to be considered one of the biggest upsets in US Senate history? How long has it been since a Republican has even held a Senate seat in MA? I can’t wait for Tuesday and, if Brown does win, I also can’t wait to read the panicky MSM stories that follow that will read like APB’s to their fellow Democrats, and the exit polling info.

There I go getting ahead of myself! Guess I’m finally starting to feel like it’s possible.

That poll showing the 4-pt. lead was taken BEFORE Coakley’s radio interview last night, in which she said “you can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.”

Um, yeah – attacking nuns in hospitals in heavily Catholic Massachusetts – that’s JUST what she needs!

Next up, have Derek Jeter come up and start campaigning with her. Oh, wait – she already bashed Brown for “standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?”

Up next, she’s gonna come out against beans and clam chowdah. She is, hands down, the dumbest, DUMBEST politician I’ve ever witnessed.

No Republican has represented Massachusetts in the Senate since 1979. That was Edward Brooke III, who was considered a moderate Republican for the day (although things felt a little bit different 30 years ago, ideologically speaking). (Gregory is correct in that Brooke was elected in 1972; my date of 1979 is offered because that’s when Brooke’s term in office ended.)

Brown has proven to be a masterful campaigner, and he’s found a way to reach out to independents and many wings of the GOP to put together a coalition strong enough that he’s got a real shot at this. But a big part of the credit also goes to Martha Coakley, who has proven to be so arrogant in the presumed fact of her annointment that she allowed an advertisement to go out misspelling the name of the state she hopes to represent.

The odds are still in her favor, as I see it — but here’s hoping Brown can pull off an upset.

The misspelling on Coakley’s part was stupid, unquestionably. But the real question is gonna be, what was the stupidest thing she’s said / done in this race? The competition is fierce. Letterman could have a great Top Ten for it if he would get off his lefty high horse and give it a chance.

Edward Brooke, 1967-79, who inherited the seat from Republican Senator Saltonstall. Hard to believe, but, for a long time, Massachusetts regularly elected Republicans.

Meanwhile, in Massachusetts, the Democrats and their coup d’état wing, Acorn, are busy at their various locations around the state frantically printing out fake ballots as rapidly as they humanly can. Tonight, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and Coakley will sleep soundly knowing the fix is in. Possible, yes, and Coakley has made so many mistakes and done so many misdeeds, you’d think it would be a walk for Brown, but I, for one, am not getting my hopes too high. This is, after all, Massachusetts, where the Democratic Party is the state religion. Still, I’m hoping for a filibuster-friendly senate.

Remember, we’re talking a national party out of gangland Chicago here, and they don’t give a rusty rip about the voters in MA, or anywhere else in the nation because they know if they deny anything long enough the adoring, public-school-educated voters will actually believe their savior once again.

Even though I live in one of those middle America “hick flyover states”, I donated $100. to Scott Brown. It’s a risk but it’s a gamble I wanted to take. It’s time for that seat that has been flattened by all the years of Kenny’s ass parked in it, it’s time for a change.
