Let’s pretend for five seconds that Sen. Menendez was a Republican

Think the MSM would be treating him with the kid gloves they’ve treated the Democrat version?  Via Politico:

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is denying any allegations of wrongdoing after FBI agents raided the business of a Florida doctor close to him.

FBI agents searched the office of Dr. Salomon Melgen on Tuesday night, according to a report from the Miami Herald. Melgen runs the Vitreo-Retinal Consultants Eye Center in West Palm Beach and is a big donor to Menendez and other Democratic lawmakers, Federal Election Commission records show.

Melgen has been tied to several trips to the Dominican Republic by Menendez over the last several years. Melgen owns a private jet and flew Menendez to the Caribbean island on multiple occasions, according to campaign disclosure reports.

“Dr. Melgen has been a friend and political supporter of Senator Menendez for many years,” Menendez’s office said in a statement. “Senator Menendez has traveled on Dr. Melgen’s plane on three occasions, all of which have been paid for and reported appropriately. Any allegations of engaging with prostitutes are manufactured by a politically-motivated right-wing blog and are false.”

In November, the Daily Caller, a conservative publication, reported that Menendez allegedly had sex with prostitutes while staying with Melgen at an exclusive resort in the Dominican Republic.

Last week, the Caller reported that the FBI was looking into whether the prostitutes were underage. Under U.S. law, it is illegal for any American citizen to have “commercial sex” with anyone who is under 18 years old.

Menendez strongly denied the initial report by the Daily Caller two months ago, but the FBI’s involvement in the case has dramatically raised both the legal and political stakes for Menendez, who just assumed the gavel at the Foreign Relations Committee with the departure of Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) to be secretary of state.

How fascinating yet not surprising that a conservative news site rather than major mainstream media outlets has done most of the heavy digging and reporting on this case.  If this were a Republican, the MSM would hound him endlessly, could never get enough, probably would have resigned at this point.

Move along, nothing here to see …

Footage of the raid was shown this morning on “Fox & Friends”. Chances are Menendez will get some, but not enough, rough treatment. Only the Petraeus sex scandal was motivation enough to get the LSM interested in Benghazi but they were off it quickly. Unfortunately, this type of jounalistic voyeurism is what sells. On the eve of invading Iraq the public was more interested in the Kobe Bryant sex scandal.

He can thank his lucky stars that his name isn’t Palin! The LSM would be going through his garbage daily, his e-mails for the past twenty years (both his “official” ones and his “private” ones), and he would have at least 10 nuisance lawsuits going on at any given moment.

But his name isn’t Palin, there isn’t an “R” beside his official listing, he’s a good soldier in the socialist fight, and, by golly, he’s just such a nice guy.

    (Especially with those 16-17-year-old whores.)

Regardless of press non-coverage, Bob may be in serious trouble: if indeed one of the prostitutes was under 18 –regardless of the age of consent in the DR– US law makes that a felony punishable by up to 30 years in jail. And the FBI raid on the offices of the doctor who flew Senator Menendez (D) to the DR for SEX WITH MINORS shows that they are taking this very seriously. As they should.

I predict Senator Menendez (D) resigns within 30 days.

Phineas, wouldn’t that be sweet. I hate this type of lowlife and personally I think he should get his 30 years, in a real prison, with some guy named Bubba the gorilla, who can show him what life is like as someones play toy. All his worldly possesions should be given over to the ones he harmed and he should be let out of prison broken and pennyless to live out the rest of his days. Seems harsh?? Well try living the rest of your life with the memory of this lowlife puke and his evil behaviors. – Lorica
