Quotes of the Day on the MSM blackout of Kermit #Gosnell trial coverage

First up, pro-life Democrat Kirsten Powers – from a must-read in the USA Today:

Infant beheadings. Severed baby feet in jars. A child screaming after it was delivered alive during an abortion procedure. Haven’t heard about these sickening accusations?

It’s not your fault. Since the murder trial of Pennsylvania abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell began March 18, there has been precious little coverage of the case that should be on every news show and front page. The revolting revelations of Gosnell’s former staff, who have been testifying to what they witnessed and did during late-term abortions, should shock anyone with a heart.

[…]

Let me state the obvious. This should be front page news. When Rush Limbaugh attacked Sandra Fluke, there was non-stop media hysteria. The venerable NBC Nightly News’ Brian Williams intoned, “A firestorm of outrage from women after a crude tirade from Rush Limbaugh,” as he teased a segment on the brouhaha. Yet, accusations of babies having their heads severed — a major human rights story if there ever was one — doesn’t make the cut.

You don’t have to oppose abortion rights to find late-term abortion abhorrent or to find the Gosnell trial eminently newsworthy. This is not about being “pro-choice” or “pro-life.” It’s about basic human rights.

The deafening silence of too much of the media, once a force for justice in America, is a disgrace.

Indeed.  My only quibble with what she wrote is that this is indeed about being “pro-choice or pro-life.”  She’s right in that it shouldn’t matter what “side” you are on in this debate in order to be outraged and sickened by “Doctor” Gosnell’s born babies murder spree, but the whole reason why the national MSM and most pro-aborts in America are staying silent on this trial is specifically because it brings to the forefront the inhumane procedures used in the practice of their number one line-in-the-sand- issue: abortion.  There’s no way to smooth over the terminology, no way to play typical “pro-choice” word games in an attempt to whitewash what happened.  There’s also simply no way possible that Gosnell’s grossly extreme (understatement) and criminal actions outside of the womb can be separated from discussion of what happens inside the womb during a “safe, legal” abortion procedure.  As I asked last night, and still haven’t gotten an answer to today from “feminists”, what exactly is the “humane” way to abort an unborn child? Why is it that the “difference” in Gosnell and other abortionists methods – in that what he did was outside the womb – the only thing we “should be” discussing, according to the few “feminists” willing to discuss the issue?

“Feminists” and other left wing pro-aborts can’t answer these questions honestly without making complete and utter fools of themselves – not to mention without exposing their extreme callousness towards the unborn so as to make it unquestionable, as my friend Foolish Reporter explains with my other candidate for QOTD:

Powers question as to why there’s no outrage from the leftist ranks of the perpetually outraged can be summed up pretty easily, actually. David Horovitz probably said it best, way back in 1998, even,  in his book “Radical Son”:

The Left could not look inward and it could not look back.

[…]

The Left, and their ideological cronies in the mainstream media, can’t countenance Gosnell because then they’d truly be forced to look inward. To make a judgment on their values that have lead them to this place, now, where they will *NOT* denounce the murder of an infant outside of the womb. Where a baby is “punishment”, instead of the gift of life that most of us know it to be.

And it truly is unfortunate that those who claim to fight for those who are “powerless” or “voiceless” seem completely disinterested in making sure the children murdered by Gosnell, and the women as well, are given a voice in death, that they never had in life.

There’s your real “war on women.” And men.  Militant, bloodless ideology trumps all – even innocent, unborn human life.  This is the “compassionate left” for you, in a nutshell.  A sad commentary on today’s Democrats, but one that nevertheless should be  noted for the record.
