Perry worked his way up the political ladder here starting out as Agriculture Commissioner. No matter the snapshot or sound bite impression many have of him, he is a savvy politician.

The incentives he promotes are low taxes, no state income tax, business-friendly environment, and tort reform or “loser pays”. If someone brings a suit against a business or individual here and loses, they pay all legal fees and attendant court costs.

Business owners in our capitalist economy have one objective, make money. They are like Cuba Gooding in “Jerry McGuire”, “Show me the money.”

The thing is, he’s not targeting “deep blue” states, he’s targeting states where the government climate is to punish success. It just so happens that the deep blue states are, for the most part, the states where regulations and taxing kill businesses.

Which doesn’t necessarily free the “red” states from his targeting, but they are much less likely to have the onerous regulations dem-controlled states do. What it really boils down to is, like in Oregon, how much regulation is run by statist drones who truly believe that all money and land are owned by the state but the state allows people/businesses to use that money and land IF ONE ADHERES TO THE CONCEPT OF STATE OWNERSHIP.

A friend of mine (a card-carrying Democrat, who isn’t afraid to make her opinions known–nice girl, otherwise) works for an organization that promotes a certain industry. Sadly, she does it in Maryland, and she has said, flat-out, “Maryland does not want to create jobs.” Then she says it’s all the Republican’s fault.

Gov. Perry will be heading to the (Not-so) Free State soon, and I welcome him, as will Beretta.

Change their policies – get real. Before that happens, the blue state hacks will pass a law fining the businesses for leaving.

That’s already being done at the federal level, Mike, what with the NLRB nailing Boeing for trying to set up a factory in the Carolinas. Can’t have them darned capitalists making money, ya know, by cutting out the union excesses…

And LCVRWC, she’ll never be able to connect the dots between Democrap policies and a failing business climate. ‘Course, it doesn’t help when the Repub “leadership” pushes basically the same policies, either…

The problem with bringing business from Blue states to Texas is that you bring the same bastards who voted for the democraps in the first place. Look at Colorado.

@Michael, well, you do have a point so Texans, be wary, okay? I live in California and it is not just that our state government punishes successful businesses. California is not family-friendly either. Our schools are horrible; high-school seniors are darn near illiterate; they push the LGBQT agenda anywhere and everywhere. Of course, Hollywood is here pushing their graphic sex, graphic violence and still don’t get that movies and TV shows that get the highest ratings are those that are family-friendly. It used to be fun to go visit San Francisco (we live about 50 miles from the City) but with the homeless problem and men sitting around naked (no really!), I don’t want to see it and I am sure other families and adults do either. We did live in San Luis Obispo County for a few years. It was so nice; pretty good weather and varied scenery – beach to mountains and lakes. So the the folks from L.A. move up there and want to start making demands on county and city government. They have ruined the county and others like that. L. A. commuters have now moved as far north as Bakersfield which has pretty much ruined Bakersfield. I totally get why businesses and families are getting out of here. We would too if we had the money to move.:(
