Friendly reminder: Hardcore liberal ideologues are not our friends
Dan Gainor writes about two diehardΒ liberal conferences coming up this weekend – just three hours apart from each other, both of which have goals of promising to do what then-candidate Obama scarily pledged in October 2008 shortly before he was elected: βfundamentally change Americaβ:Β
Apparently, megalomaniacs need schedulers.
Just ask George Soros. The left-wing billionaire is helping fund two major conferences that start on the same day, in two different locations just a three hours apart by car. Two liberal events packed into one long weekend. God created the world in six days. Apparently, Soros, who sees himself as βsome kind of god,βneeds just a long weekend to start remaking today’s world in his image.
The emphasis of both conferences is a familiar one to American voters β change. Soros wants to begin changing the global economy in one event. In the other, his flunkies want to βChange the world. Change the media.β
Now that is change you can believe in. Sadly, those who actually report the news must believe in it because they sure as heck arenβt reporting on Soros or either event. And thatβs even though staffers or even executives from Reuters, the Financial Times, NPR, PBS, The Washington Post and other major media outlets are speaking at one event or the other.
Wow.Β Imagine that.
Continuing on, Gainor notes an especially hypocritical part of this weekendβs festivities, when you consider the fact that both conferences are sponsored by the uber-liberal Soros:
Think Progressβs Koch-hating Lee Fang [will be in attendance]. Think Progress is a project of Democrat John Podestaβs Center for American Progress, which was founded with Soros money. Fang is on the panel for: βReal Issues vs. Astroturf: Confronting the Koch Brothers,β and makes the laughable claim βthis is not about liberals versus conservativesβ when the entire goal of the left is to shut down the Kochs to defund the right.
Everywhere you they go in Boston, theyβll be making more left turns than NASCAR. Itβs an event filled with lefties dissatisfied that the news media arenβt even more liberal, and their goal will be to make that happen. Whether itβs βBeyond Pronouns: Creating Real Stories About Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Peopleβ or pushing for illegal immigrant rights, the conference is a predictable liberal take on pretty much everything.
But the over-arching theme is getting government to fix the media. Columbia University President Lee Bollinger, whose school also includes the well-known and partly Soros-funded Columbia School of Journalism, is one of several speakers advocating for increased government funding for media. He called for federal funding of the media in a 2010 Wall Street Journal piece with the terrifying headline: βJournalism Needs Government Help.β Bollinger pushed for the creation of a public media that combines NPR, PBS and Voice of America. He also wants to βend to the regulation of βindecentβ language and images in broadcast programmingβ and return to the Fairness Doctrine.
Make sure to read the whole thing.Β Itβs stomach-turning, but even with that said itβs also imperative we stay on top of the far leftβs various agendas so we can make sure weβre prepared to counter them every step of the way, every day. TheseΒ radicals rely on the American people to be βtoo busyβ to pay attention to what theyβre up to.Β Β While itβs my belief that no one in reality isΒ βtoo busyβ to stay connected with whatβs happening in the world, especially here on the home front, the sad reality is that all too many donβt keep up with whatβs going on when the left thinks no one is watching. And thatβs where we conservative political junkies come in.Β The future of our country, as they say, depends on it.
In the words of the late, great Winston Churchill:
βNever give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.β
Β Amen.
