As I’ve noted here many times, it matters not a whit what actual results of any “progressive” program is, as long as the intentions were faithful to their ideology.

It matters not that, since the “war on poverty” began, divorce and single parenthood has skyrocketed in the black community.

It matters not that there is a higher percentage on government dole now (fifty years later) than when the government started accelerating such programs.

It matters not that generations of families have never known the joy of an honest day’s work.

It matters not that learning abilities are stifled in inner city schools while teachers make sure every child knows how to protect a cucumber from pregnancy.

No, all that matters is that the idiots who think up these enslaving monstrosities feel good about themselves because, doggone it, they at least tried.

To hell with the victims. All that counts is the theoretical triumph.

Thanks, Carlos! I have reiterated numerous times about the unintended consequences of programs and government interference–which do more damage than good. Personal responsibility is key and the socialist “justice” component does not work. Thanks, Andrew!

What this clip points out – and Carlos amplifies so well – is that to liberals, what is important is the intent of their programs, not the effect. As long as the intent is good, they close their eyes to the effect.

Evaluating the effect would require thinking – and as I’ve said here before, libs act emotionally, not rationally. Besides, if they actually thought about what they were doing, they might conclude they were wrong, and to a liberal, that’s not possible, since they know they’re sooooo much smarter than the rest of us.

Thank you, Gentle People. This subject is one of my personal “button” issues.

I would suggest a heavy dose of Thomas Sowell for further enlightenment. He, in my mind, is the expert extrordinaire on the subject, and actually worked his way out of the poverty/dole cycle before it was a cause celebre.
