From a 2004 interview with Cathleen Falsani in the Chicago Sun-Times:

Falsani: Do you believe in sin?

Obama: Yes.

Falsani: What is sin?

Obama: Being out of alignment with my values.

Well, at least the question of his religion is settled. It’s not Christianity or Islam.

It’s himself.

Well, we know that he doesn’t value human life, so that is why he doesn’t want to assist and give comfort to tiny human beings who have survived abortion. He values being KING and since America doesn’t have a monarchy, then he will settle for being a DESPOT!

It would seem someone with a reputation as a bush league, all-too-frequent, garden variety egomaiac would not work overtime to make it a lasting public perception. But that requires at least a smattering of judgment, does it not?

I was always struck by Obama claiming that Jesus Christ was a “historic figure” in the same interview.

GG: Who’s Jesus to you?
OBAMA: Right. Jesus is a historical figure for me, and he’s also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith, and one that I think is powerful precisely because he serves as that means of us reaching something higher. And he’s also a wonderful teacher. I think it’s important for all of us, of whatever faith, to have teachers in the flesh and also teachers in history.

I have never met a Christian that would lead by calling Jesus a “historic figure.”

I was left believing that Obama uses religion like one would wear a suit coat; he puts them on to please those who he meets.

Obama is no christian,nor does he has a clue what’s in The Bible.
If he were, he would know the definition of ‘sin’ as layed out in The Bible.
Sin = missing the mark; it’s also why we have to die.
There’s nothing more evil than someone pretending to be christian, when in actuality he practices ‘alisnky’ism’ – who dedicated his book to satan himself.

Scary stuff gobbled up by the MSM who desperately want to believe in something other than the truth! Sin is what separates us from God. We were born with Original sin…I am surprised the lawyer that he is didn’t differentiate when he answered the question. He obviously lacks in theological studies. If he ever did a comparison of religions he would have known that. I guess Rev. Wright skipped over that important teaching and the MAIN reason why we need a Savior.

Kate hit the target on where Obama’s philosophical approach to his own interpretation of his “Christianism” fails.
In a 1/2008 interview with Christianity Today, Obama admitted (as a supposed Christian) the following:

“I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe that that faith gives me a path to be cleansed of sin and have eternal life.”

But he also said this…
“I’ve said this before, and I know this raises questions in the minds of some evangelicals. I do not believe that my mother, who never formally embraced Christianity as far as I know … I do not believe she went to hell … I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people.”
The problem with his “Christianism” is that he wants to invoke a moral relativism to it. He’s trying to add eastern mysticism to the doctrines and absolutes of Christianity, which you cannot do and still believe in the redemptive work of the cross of Christ.
In it’s simplest form, Mr. Obama, you can’t have it both ways. Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” There is no other way to interpret that. You either believe it or you don’t. To say there are many paths to God cancels the very purpose of Christs death and resurrection, of which you have said (at one time) you believe is the path to eternal life. If there were “many paths”, why would God send His Son to die for the sins of mankind in one the most brutal and excrutiating deaths known at the time?
Because there are not multiple paths to God. There is only one Way.

Let’s put it another way, Sefton: Jesus said many things at various times in His three-year ministry that indicate the same thing, that He is “the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father except through Me.”

That means that either He (Jesus) was telling the truth, which Mr. Obama conveniently rejects without saying so, or He (Jesus) was a colossal liar, which, again, Mr. Obama does not state but obviously believes and preaches.

Personally, I believe He (Jesus) was telling the truth, which would make Mr. Obama either colossally stupid or very much a liberal liar sneaking doubt and discord into a religion some believe he hates.

Again, personally, I believe he (Obama) hates Christianity and especially practicing Christians as defined by the Book he would just as soon label a book of fables before he would label it the Manual for Life.

When I first saw that little exchange quoted I figured it was satire from the Onion. (A distinct “truthiness” [hmm, where have we heard that word before?] to it, but rhetorical hyperbole-for-effect nonetheless.)

Instead, it’s an all-too-clear window (one of those rare “oops!” moments of actual transparency) into the heart of a dangerous, malignant narcissist that explains the vitriolic and explosive reaction to anyone who dares – DARES! I say! – to question or outright reject the holy pronouncements issuing forth from such pure lips.

This usurper to the throne of Lord of the Universe has got to go in November!
