And yet Oregon might well reelect Governor Kitzhaber, whose responsibility this fiasco is?

How do I get a job where I’m paid a bonus for maintaining something that doesn’t work? Given that the DOA Cover Oregon web site cost the taxpayers around $200,000,000 and that it’s estimated another $40,000,000 will be needed to transition to the federal exchange, one would think pitchforks and torches would be more in order.

If a private business like Amazon or Pro Flowers sunk that kind of money into building a website, it would never recoup enough to stay out of bankruptcy court. And that is the gist of both catches to this story.

First, the seed money was courtesy of you, the taxpayer, and second, private enterprise would have done a much better job than a bunch of ham-fisted cretins on the government payroll.

The vast majority of government employees now are similar to teachers: if they could do something productive, they would, but they can’t, so they work on the public welfare system because of their incompetence, laziness or both.

Remember the old adage: Them what can, do; them that can’t, teach.

It was true in the 19th century, it’s even more true today if you include government workers.
