Barack Obama …
… you’re in the middle of your first big test as President of these 57 states, with Senators and House reps from both parties duking it out over more tax cuts and big spending items in the stimulus bill you’ve said must pass in order to avoid certain catastrophe.
“We choose hope over fear”
Those were words we heard, and heard often, during the course of Barack Obama’s campaign as he convinced a majority of the American people that Republicans had deliberately tried to “scare” people into voting for them over the last 8 years. Yet as Obama has taken office, the cries of “economic catastrophe” coming from both him and members of his administration, and members of his party in Congress, have been loud and strong.
You know the stimulus bill is bad when …
Saturday Night Live is ripping Democrats over the stimulus plan:
Obama: Asleep at the wheel on the economy
Not only does he believe that a pork-filled “stimulus bill” will be the answer to all of our economic problems, but, as Gateway Pundit notes in two different posts, The Most Brilliant Man In America has gotten it wrong frequently – with not only statements related to the economy put into historical context, and with a recent executive order he signed limiting that “restricts bidding on federally funded construction projects to union-controlled businesses.”
Thank you, Senator McCain (UPDATE: SOURCES SAY STIMULUS DEAL REACHED)
It’s time for me to take a moment to give credit where credit is due. A couple of weeks ago, I voiced skepticism that John McCain would provide much, if any, resistance to the stimulus bill – mainly due to him trying to “move forward” in the “spirit of bipartisanship.” I figured it was a no-brainer, considering this is Obama’s biggest battle to date, and with it being so early on in his administration that McCain would want to “smooth the path” for his former rival a little in order to “prove” he wasn’t holding a grudge.
