In more DNC Chair Howard Dean news, Drudge is reporting today that the Dr. of Disology is ducked out of a joint appearance with RNC Chair Ken Mehlman on NBC’s Meet The Press today:
The DRUDGE REPORT has learned from exclusive sources that Democrat Party Chair Howard Dean turned down Republican Party Chair Ken Mehlman’s last minute offer to appear together on NBC’s MEET THE PRESS this morning.
Moments before taping was to begin with host Tim Russert, Mehlman asked Dean outside the NBC studio’s green room: “There’s still time for us to go on together Governor.” Dean declined with a shrug of his shoulders and an uncomfortable cackle and then proceeded to walk away into the green room.
DRUDGE has learned MEET THE PRESS producers have been working to get a head to head Dean/Mehlman appearance on the program since Dean was named chair back in February. Dean and his handlers have repeatedly turned down the request. The former Vermont governor only agreed to do this week’s program if they appeared in back-to-back interviews.
Mehlman brought up Dean’s unwillingness to appear alongside him during the show: “I was hoping that Chairman Dean would be on sitting next to me this morning. Maybe we can do that on a future program. Look, he’s somebody I’ve enjoyed getting to know. We meet in a lot of green rooms….”
Tim Russert: “We invited him — do you have a question for him?”
Former Dem Party Chair Terry McAuliffe participated in regular head-to-head appearances with his Republican counterparts during his tenure from ‘01 to ‘05. McAuliffe went head-to-head with Republican chairmen at least five times on MEET THE PRESS alone, going up against past GOP chairs Ed Gillespie (twice), Marc Racicot (twice) and Jim Gilmore (once).
Drudge has labelled Dr. Dean “Howard The Duck” – heh.
Seriously, wonder what’s up with this?

Mehlman has nothing to say but Republican talking points. He never debates mearly sticks to the party line. You know: War is good. We were wrong but, so were you. Don’t believe a word those guy’s say because their just a bunch of Socialists. Tax cuts are good even if we have to cut $51 billion from programs for the poor and add $19 billion to the deficit. We must stay in Iraq and loose 2000 more people in order to honor the 2000 that have already been killed. Black is white and white is black, trust me. Peace
Steve dismissed Mehlman’s substance by saying, “Mehlman has nothing to say but Republican talking points.”
Steve lied by saying this is a republican party line, “War is good” I know lying is bad Steve. Is this a productive debate
Steve, One quick question – Would lowering tax rates have the affect of helping the economy or hurting the economy during a time of recession?
Steve, I guess if Mehlman ‘has nothing to say’ then HD really is a wuss for not wanting to be on the same show with him, eh?
You all need to go and see this graphic! It is very apropos!

I don’t think steve is happy in a capitalist country where we have free speech and defend ourselves. Maybe he ought to try living in a country more to his ideological leanings. The Treasurer in Australia said the same thing to Islamics who are trying to transform Australia into another Islamic state under the law of Sharia.
Dean is not going to sit with anybody who will call him out on his lies and crappy rhetoric. He is a wuss.
Fat Tone,
Actually, Dean isn’t going to sit with anyone that is going to make Dean look like the loony idiot Dean in truth is.
“War is good”, was an interpretation. You know like bush interpreted the intelligence before he invaded Iraq. And don’t call anyone unpatriotic because they believe that someone has misinterpreted some information and needs to be corrected. Slavery was wrong and required reinterpretation. Not permitting women to vote was wrong and required reinterpretation. The Gulf of Tonkin attack never happened. Peace
Welp. Your interpretation is wrong…
…and Bush interpreted the intelligence the same way as 1,000 other politicians all across the world.
I didn’t call anyone unpatriotic either.
This is a great debate isn’t it. Us defending ourselves from your incorrect accusations. Would you like to improve the dialog or continue with your present pattern?
The funny thing is that you can thank a Republican for those reinterpretations.
