There are the Brian’s of the world that have really nuanced positions stating over and over that he’s not saying that Bush manipulated or lied…

But the majority of the leftists and Democrats aren’t nuanced at all. You see the protesters and the media repeatedly saying the words lied (and people died) and manipulated, etc.

Everyone (except for a few) was convinced that Iraq had chemical, biological and some sort of nuclear weapons programs and was stating it over and over. The intelligence from every intelligence agency in the world said so.

The simple fact is this (Brian I’ve been saying this over and over): You Democrats/leftists just disagreed with going to Iraq. If that is the case then just leave it as that. This accusation business will get you in trouble and this country in trouble in a time of war. It is fine to state in any opinion that you disagreed with going to war. But accusing the president of lying to get us to war is INCORRECT, wrong, a lie in itself.

You also lie by acting like and stating that Bush unilaterally got us into war. It was an 18 month long (rush to war as the Democrats called it) with the case being made over and over and it was the SAME words that Democrats used and the Democrats voted with the President (except for some of the Democrats).

Let me go off topic a little. FDR, Eisenhower and 4 Vietnam era presidents and Bush senior all had committed troops to a war zone and people died. I’m sure you can point to more than 16 words spoken by JFK, FDR, Ike, Johnson that were inaccurate or whatnot. The fact is that Britian has backed up what they stated and the French backed up the British statment. President Bush’s 16 words were correct and the White House saying, “maybe we shouldn’t have said it” isn’t an admission that the words were incorrect. The White House is in no position to determine whether the intelligence was correct. Only intelligence can say whether the words were correct and British intelligence has affirmed that that is what they stated and the 16 words were correct.

Wilson has lied over and over again on this topic and when the DUST settles, trust me the media will have to explain themselves because everyday that passes people are able to see the obvious bias by the mainstream press.

If they can’t get it right people will turn to alternative sources just as I did and many other millions of people have. I was converted from liberalism for a reason. Liberal leader’s facts are wrong (in a much higher percentage – trust me there are other leader’s that have facts wrong too and nobody’s perfect).

Sounds like you disagreed with going to war in Iraq. Why can’t you just state that? You can even state why you disagreed with going.

Dictionary.com’s second definition is “Oppressive, dictatorial control”. What is we don’t repent and admit we were wrong. What if we actually think that the 24 million Iraqi citizens have benefitted from having Saddam removed and given democracy and what if we believe that Islamists all around the world will benefit to see how a muslim country can be run without a dictator. The Iraqi people’s standard of living and ability to be educated now is much greater than before. If you feel differently than just state it that way….

The neo-con warmongers,they can be identified if you like,were wrong to remove Saddam by using war as the vehicle. Saddam could have been remove, you guys like to call it regime change, without the use of war. Without any violence at all, frankly. The only answer to the canundrum we find ourselves in is peace. If,and only if, we pursue peace will survival be possible. Rice, today pursued peace and got the gates open. That is pursuing peace. The Israeli position was ridiculous,as usual, and she forced them to make the logical decision. There is not a way on heaven or earth that we can kill all of our “enimies”,but we could make ourselves safer by pursuing peace and making them look illegitimate. That is the game. 4 times as many civilians die in war as do soldiers. That means we are all 4 times safer without war. Peace

I am so happy I am a warmonger. YaY!!!!! Just because I prefer to see a people under a democracy over a dictatorship. I also like how Steve in one sentence proves that the UN is a useless entity. I mean how else can he justify his “stupid and unnessary” comment. Sadamn only ignored 14 UN resolutions. Thanks Steve for showing us the light when it comes to dealing with UN. I will tell you this, we should of finished the job in 1991 and executed this insane criminal soon after we kicked him out of Kuwait, and destroyed his military. – Lorica

I must admit you have me confused.

How does one peacefully enact regime change in a country that is literally owned by a dictator who will fight to keep what he has?

I’ve heard many liberals make statements like that, but not one has yet been able to come up with the “how?” Can you tell me how we could have peacefully deposed Saddam, or is what you’re saying just some Utopian spew?

Wishing upon a star really doesn’t cut it, I get the impression that most of the utopian leftists out there stopped mentally and emotionally developing in childhood, somewhere around Kindergarden. If we all play nice and hold hands, it’ll be all right, let’s sing kumbaya. Works real well until the bully with the guts to fight comes and kicks your face in.

Not that a firm understanding of the brutal, meat-hook realities of the world was ever a strong suit of leftists and Democrats.

After over 12 years of sanctions that only HURT Iraqi people Steve, I’m not sure how regime change could’ve been accomplished peacefully without that number (one million Iraqi’s killed due to the sanctions – that number that Democrats keep putting out) INCREASING.

Your party had people in it opposed to the non-war method of sanctions as well because Saddam used Oil for Food as Oil for his own personal pleasure.

The people there have better hospitals and the girls can now get educated and all you can think of to say is calling people warmongerers.

I’ve asked you and you’ve not responded. If you saw my children getting hurt/killed by someone and your words (your voice) was not stopping that person from hurting/killing would you use force to help my kids (stop evil) or would you stubbornly continue to use words and have people hurt/killed by your actions.

Utopia is not an option. It doesn’t exist. Evil does exist. Pacificism is evil if it is used as an excuse to do nothing and watch people get hurt/killed.

One of the reasons to remove Saddam that I’ve not heard adequately put forth is that he, by his bribes and corruption, was seriously and almost fatally corrupting and destroying the very international organizations (the UN), and alliances that the Left/Democrats all say we should rely on instead of armed conflict. Oil for Food, bribes, serious conflicts of interest with France, Germany, Russia, and others who were being enriched by Iraqi oil graft. Saddam did nearly fatal damage to numerous alliances and has further corrupted the UN into even more of a useless and degenerate organization than it was before (if that’s even possible).

So, over and above the torture, the gassings, the WMD, the wars, the brutal supression of his own people, and his support for terrorists, Saddam was a cancer on the entire international community that needed cut out and destroyed. Why the Left continues to support him after the damage he did to the credibility and integrity of the UN is completely beyond me.
