The Carl Levin-Jack Abramoff connection

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on January 5, 2006 at 9:18 am

If disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff starts singing, and it’s believed that he will, many likely will go down with him and Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) could be one of them. The press has focused extensively on Rep. Tom DeLay’s relationship with Abramoff, but you haven’t seen the same level of coverage for the prominent Democrats who had ties of their own. Debbie Schlussel has all the details on Levin’s relationship with Abramoff.

Reposting: Chart on how Abramoff spread the wealth.

AM UPDATE I: 40 of the 45 members of the Senate Democrat Caucus have rec’d money from Abramoff. Newsbusters has the list (via the RNC). Also, check out this complete list of Abramoff’s lobbying and political contributions from 1999-2006 that lists contributions to Republicans and Democrats.

Does anyone really expect unbiased reporting from the MSM? They’ll bury the parts about their friends and fellow travellers being dirty just to nail the GOP.

    2. ArizonaTeach says:

Heard on Laura Ingraham this morning: Bush returned 6000 dollars in contributions (front page headline); Harry Reid refuses to give back 47,000 dollars in contributions (buried inside).

      To steal freely from Lee,
      Oh, THAT liberal media…

    3. ArizonaTeach says:

Oops…should have mentioned that was the Washington Post she was talking about.

We in Michigan have two of the best U.S. Senators money can buy!

“40 of the 45 members of the Senate Democrat Caucus have rec’d money from Abramoff.”

Was all the money he gave improper?

    6. PCD says:

andrew, in your eyes GOP geting donations is a bribe, but Donkeys getting money from the same source is honest donations. I don’t expect you to see the hypocrisy of your position.

    7. andrew says:

“andrew, in your eyes GOP geting donations is a bribe, but Donkeys getting money from the same source is honest donations.”

I don’t think everyone that abramoff gave to got the money improperly. Was it? and who are you to see through my eyes?

    8. PCD says:

andrew, your previous posts make it quite clear that you consider money from Abrahamoff to the GOP to be bribes, but money from Abrahamoff to the DNC, and to Democrat members to Congess to be clean donations.

We know your are partisan and wish to smear the GOP while not holding the Donkeys to the same standard.

    9. ArizonaTeach says:

While I agree with your sentiment, PCD, what Andrew asks IS an important question (I understand that a lot of the money being reported as “from Abramoff” is actually from his clients), but granted, the insistence of liberals to crucify the right on the barest suggestion of wrongness never seems to equate to the “get out of anything free” card they give to themselves.

    10. PCD says:

AT, I disagree with the view of what Andrew is asking. He’s playing like Ronnie Earle in texas, in that Abramoff donations to GOP is dirty or illegal, but show a Democrat, like Earle, taking money from the same Abramoff in the same fashion/method, andrew is silent or defends it as clean donation.

    11. andrew says:

“andrew, your previous posts make it quite clear that you consider money from Abrahamoff to the GOP to be bribes, but money from Abrahamoff to the DNC, and to Democrat members to Congess to be clean donations.”

Which posts? I highly doubt all the money he passed around was tainted. I guess though, that if he were to do dirty things, it would be with people he could trust. Would that be the GOP or the dems?

    12. Baklava says:

That post right there Andrew. :o

    13. andrew says:

“That post right there Andrew. :o

But that post just means that were bribes went was likely the GOP. Not that all the money the GOP got was illegal.

    14. PCD says:

andrew, you just dismissed that any bribes, especally to Democrats like Harry Reid were illegal. You only said monies to the GOP was illegal, only a few pennies would you admit may have been legal.

    15. andrew says:

“andrew, you just dismissed that any bribes, especally to Democrats like Harry Reid were illegal. ”

I said its likely he did illegal things with people he could trust. And for the poster boy of the young republicans and the regan revolution, would that be democrats or GOP?

    16. PCD says:

Again, you psychotically do a Kerry. Andrew, you are hopeless. You can’t see that, can you?

    17. andrew says:

“Andrew, you are hopeless. You can’t see that, can you?”

It is hopeless isn’t it? Of course Abramoff was doing illegal things with people he couldn’t trust.

    18. PCD says:

Andrew, when a Democrat goes down as one of the bribed, will you be alright? you won’t commit suicide or hurt yourself in any way, will you?

    19. andrew says:

“Andrew, when a Democrat goes down as one of the bribed, will you be alright? ”

      The bipartisanship will be heartwarming.

    20. PCD says:

Andrew, say goodbye to Carl Levin, then. I hope you have a very warm heart as he isn’t the only donkey going down.

    21. andrew says:

      Is what levin did illegal.
