I’m a little late in linking to this video clip of Afghanistan war veteran Sgt. Mark Seavey laying the smack down on Reps. John Murtha and Jim Moran at a recent townhall meeting in Arlington, Va. Better late than never.

Yes sir my name is Mark Seavey and I just want to thank you for coming up here. Until about a month ago I was Sgt Mark Seavey infantry squad leader, I returned from Afghanistan. My question to you, (applause)
“Like yourself I dropped out of college two years ago to volunteer to go to Afghanistan, and I went and I came back. If I didn’t have a herniated disk now I would volunteer to go to Iraq in a second with my troops, three of which have already volunteered to go to Iraq. I keep hearing you say how you talk to the troops and the troops are demoralized, and I really resent that characterization. (applause) The morale of the troops that I talk to is phenomenal, which is why my troops are volunteering to go back, despite the hardships they had to endure in Afghanistan.
“And Congressman Moran, 200 of your constituents just returned from Afghanistan. We never got a letter from you; we never got a visit from you. You didn’t come to our homecoming. The only thing we got from any of our elected officials was one letter from the governor of this state thanking us for our service in Iraq, when we were in Afghanistan. That’s reprehensible. I don’t know who you two are talking to but the morale of the troops is very high.”
According to Greyhawk at Mudville Gazette (linked above) here was Moran’s response:
Moran – who is one of the few congressmen supporting Charlie Rangel’s call to restore the draft – responded quickly: “That wasn’t in the form of a question, it was in the form of a statement. But, uhh… let’s go over here.” And he took the next question.
Guess they weren’t interested in hearing from anyone who didn’t sign on to their cut and run approach to the Iraq war. Next.

- Lately its become somewhat of a standing joke that when confronted with the stupidity of one of thier chuckle headed lies or indefensible revisionist positions, they immediately drive their heads deep in the sand. Perhaps its a natural reaction in keeping with the rest of the collective hive thinking the Dimbulb cult worships, but its just plain funny to the rest of us…..
Note to Liberals: … The rest of the country is laughing at you. Get a cluebat and get a new act…..

But I have to say that the bottom feeding slugs that would stand and lie about, and character abuse, and try to undermine the men and women of our military who put their lives on the line for the rest of us on a daily basis deserve endless ridicule, like the opportunist narcissitic partisan hacks they are. If you redact this, thats your perogative, but truth is truth and needs, no screams, to be said and written as often as possible.

This man is wonderful! I linked to him thru Michelle Malkin. He emailed me to thank me for the link – how great is that. It’s a damn shame that there are people in this great country who ignore and/or put down such brave and true men and women.
Didn’t scare me, just made me sad. The Left is trying to bring Peace, so the sergeant might not have to bo back and maybe get killed. And all you Rightwing armageddoninists want is more war. Your all now screaming about invading Iran. I suspect you’ll not be satisfied until the world is in flames. Peace
The left is not after peace. The left is after nothing more or less than the path of least resistance. In there mind there is nothing worth putting one’s life at risk. They hang to the rear so that if we go down they can stay afloat.
The Islamists, IN THEIR OWN WORDS, want nothing more or less than the entire world to be an Islamic state. When that happens, your crying “wolf” or in the left’s case, “theocracy” will see that your heads are liberated from your shoulders.

What will the left do when there is know one to speak for them, to protect them? What will the left do when they are being raped, tortured, beheaded and there is no one to defend them?
steve what more can be done to control Iran? It isn’t that left doesn’t want peace, we all want peace, but the left just doesn’t want to fight in a war and there is no shame in that. They need not apply to a volunteer military, that you, on the left seem to forget. The right is smart enough to realize that there are some situations in which our military is a necessary tool. It has been that way for 220 years and will continue to be until the end of time.

- On another level, Liberal/Progressive protagonists such as Steve have yet another agenda in this fight. Inclusion. When you’re not in power, which they are not, save for a few muddled and badly confused Euro block countries. When you have lost voice on the world political stage, which they have. When Democratic Republics are threatening to break out everywhere you look, which they are, its a very bad time for Socialists.
- No rational citizenry of a Democratic Republic would ever knowingly shift to a Socialistic based government. There simply is not enough Lexiconal gymnastics available to the Marxist, no matter how far reaching the lies, to accomplish that. Collectivism, with its adherance to government coddling from cradle to grave, can never get around or over the counter fact that it removes all but the bearest of personal freedoms, leaving the electorate longing for a time when they could actually make personal choices in thier daily lives.
- That, of course is the dead-at-birth, unworkable conundrum, 700 pound gorilla, which the left studiously tries to burry and ignore.
- So, faced with the prospect of political impotence for generations to come, they welcome chaos, and nuture it for the simple reason that stable, peaceful regimes, are the kiss of death for the sort of anti-social changes they seek.
- What they can do is what you see Steve, and his ilk, engaging in. Antagonistic bomb throwing, inflamatory rhetoric, and twisted narative, all the while hoping for unrest and confusion, both neccessary elements of any chance of a reentrant “collectivistic” movement.
- Best to mark them and keep them on the edge of the public radar, noting their perfidity and prevarication in the guise of “peace” and “conciliation”, while going on with the daily work of dealing with the real world, which the rest of us fortunately, pay attention too.
- Judging from Steves words he would refuse to respect the safety and survival of his own country, probably eschew the pledge of alliegence, if he even is, in fact, an American citizen. He just as studiously ignores what would happen to him in almost any totalitarian country in the world, should he act in the same manner. America is everything bad, but if even his nationality is not a lie, he chooses convieniantly to live where he can engage in sedition and traiterous words safely, never once acknowloging the ambivalance and patience of his fellow citizens.
- The image of the Marxist reprobates, gleefully rubbing hands together as they anticipate yet another destructive war on the horizon in Iran, while they do all they can to fuel the antipithy and rhetoric, is a poster that should be displayed on every campass in America.

The Republican controlled Congress, this year, passed legislation giving the Oil companies $21 billion in subsidies. Subsides are tax dollars. Using your definitions that is Socialism. My question is: With the price of gasoline as high as it is, why does Big Oil need to be subsidized by the Republicans? Peace
- Setting aside the fact that the left brings only carpping, and uneducated arguments to the party, never offering a single working solution or suggestion for improvement to the system they seem to simply loath for emotional reasons, I’ll try to respond to that Steve, since its the first time I’ve ever seen you post something with even a modicum of substance. Unfortunately it begs the real situation in the typical Leftist way.
- Big Oil and Big business is one area I have to admit I find troublesome on some levels. But be careful what you wish for.
- While its true such “subsidies” would seem entirely unneccessary, it takes on a different light when you look at the entire picture, instead of cherry picking a sound byte that looks sinister and greed based until you examine it closely.
- 21 Billion works out to something less than a tenth of a penny on a gallon. Not much grist for the outrage mill when you put it next to the typical State tax of 65 cents on the gallon, or the Fed tax of 37 cents on a gallon. Seems like if you want to get at the root cause of the high price of oil you’d want to go where the real meat is. But theres a problem with that.
- Remove those onerous taxes, and most if not all of the Liberals pet social give-aways would lose their funding source and quickly dissapear.
- The 21 Billion was actually “subsidies”, as you put it, to encourage oil exploration in places that are low yield potentials. I know most Liberals have no clue as to how a business should be run. But I’m certain if you ran a business you wouldn’t be very happy if you had to lose money just to make a small cadre of anti-capitalistic Marxists smile.
- Truth is I’m not happy that oil prices are largely controlled by the futures traders. Thats an area that needs the attention of Congress badly.
- It always amuses me when the left attacks the hand that feeds them. But then ignoring the reality of most things in real life has been raised to an art form by the left.

I know Steve won’t answer this, cause Steve has NEVER answered one of my questions, but here we go. If the left wants peace so bad then why is Congressman Moran backing the draft?? Seems to be a contradiction to me, but what do I know I am only an armageddonist Christian.
Steve have you ever read Rick Joyner’s book “The Final Quest”??? You should it speaks to the “Jesus Peace Movement”, and it was written in 1996, long before the war started.
This Sergeant was in a unique place, and I am glad he had the courage to take advantage of it. I thank God for men like this and pray for them daily. I pray that his back is healed too. God Bless him for his sacrafice, and God bless his loved ones also. It is amazing how the Dems will not learn from the Wellstone Memorial. Here is another example of the absolutely foolish thinking of those in charge of the Dem party. Instead of rebutting the statement of Sgt. Seavey, they ignore it and move on. I know, I know they don’t really have an answer or rebuttal. What has happened to the Dem party. Also can we talk to the LACK OF APPRECIATION, for the sacrafice of these men by their political leadership. Look out democratic do nothings your jobs are gonna be goin’ by the wayside and will soon be jobs for Republicans.

“backing the draft”–for 2 reasons, first the debacle in Iraq has run the military into the ground and we need new meat, second it is the democratic thing to do because the rich man could get drafted which is why it won’t happen. Have you ever heard of the “Jesus Freaks”? Jesus Freaks happened in the 60’s and there are still millions around. BigBang the only hand that feeds me is my right one. Steve hasn’t seen the Heritage Foundation’s research that shows that the upper income earners have enlisted in higher numbers than before 9/11.

Interestingly tho, it really wasn’t an answer as much as it was an excuse, so maybe not so banner. /sigh I am alittle confused by debacle. Back in 1950, if combat infantryman me had asked an Army aid station medic for a Purple Heart for a scratch, he would have sent me to the Chaplain to get my T.S. Card punched. Judging from “Martha” and Kerry’s medals, I guess the navy and marines have a lower threshold of pain.

You bet..! Im not familiar with Murtha’s Purple Heart actions……But with Kerry, he had 3 inside of 3mos with no time lost and all 3 treated on the following morning sick call with bacitracin..
