He was released after being declared “mentally unfit” – but his family (the ones who turned him in to begin with) were there when he was freed, and now no one knows where he is:
KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan man who had faced the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity quickly vanished Tuesday after he was released from prison, apparently out of fear for his life with Muslim clerics still demanding his death.
[...]
“We released him last night because the prosecutors told us to,” he [Justice Minister Mohammed Sarwar Danish] said. “His family was there when he was freed, but I don’t know where he was taken.
The article is confusing because on one hand it says he “vanished” out of fear for his life but later the quote from the Justice Minister notes his family was there and that he doesn’t know where he was “taken.” If he was taken, he didn’t leave on his own.
Michelle Malkin has blogged about this today and I agree with her – the fact that nobody knows what’s happened to him is not a good sign.
Stay tuned.

What people believe is a tricky deal. Changing what people believe is a very difficult task. Those in charge can have an impact over time. What does not work and will never work is using force to make people think differently. That is why bush is a fool with very little education. He believed that if you moved a big military in and killed alot of people, the rest of the people would change their minds about everything they think in no time at all. How stupid. Immediately, reestablish full diplomatic relations with Iran and get out of Iraq. Peace
steve(FN) is the fool who doesn’t learn from history. steve(FN) gives away freedoms which are his to give away. steve(FN) wants the US defeated and subservient to Islam for the crime of supporting Israel.
PCD, for supporting violence and war and only those that do. Support of the Zionists not Israel. Likud was soundly defeated today, so there may be hope of dis-crediting all of the Zionists. Peace
steve, what has what you said got to do with the topic? Are you insane? By the way, GWB is a college graduate – Yale & Harvard. The fool would be you for such foolish postings.
It is possible that Abdul Rahman has disappeared for a good reason: he’s being spirited out of the country. Keep a good thought.
Thank you benning, I was just about to post the same thing. That is steve’s MO, however, posting completely off topic and posting complete gibberish.
I hope and pray that this guy makes it out of the country safely!!
Let’s take a second to look at what steve just admitted.

Thank you steve, for admitting that you do wish to see the US defeated. Of course, we already knew that, but it’s good to have it in black and white. Good job, PCD.
Let’s just hope (and pray?) that he’s OK…
I heard on the radio, ABC News, that Italy will give Rahman asylum. But what about the others in Afghanistan that are Christian or other non-islam converts? What about them?
Not the US,CavalierX, just the silly policy of pre-emptive war and anyone who supports such a stupid concept. That group includes: Zionists,Rightwing Christians,neo-cons and the rest of the war profiteers. Peace
Yes, that silly policy of striking dangerous people before they have a chance to strike us or our allies. Steve you truly are in a fantasy world and have no concept of reality. I’d also like to know how you know so much about the Iraqi people and what they want. Relying on those highly accurate “polls”? It’s obvious from hearing you talk that you have never been to Iraq, have never talked to any Iraqis, and have no wish to see Iraq succeed. You have made that point time and time again and really don’t have to make it anymore.
>just the silly policy of pre-emptive war
Oh, I know you wouldn’t mind if a few million Americans died in a state-sponsored terrorist attack before we were “allowed” to do anything about it. I just wanted you to admit it.
>and anyone who supports such a stupid
>concept
That would be: The United States of America, since that is our policy.
