Richard Cohen has once again been proven right: the hatred is back. WNBC reports:

NEW YORK — State Comptroller Alan Hevesi publicly apologized Thursday for a “beyond dumb” remark about “putting a bullet between the president’s eyes.”

Hevesi hastily called a mea culpa press conference hours after putting his foot in his mouth at the Queens College commencement.

The Queens College media relations office said it had videotaped the commencement but could not immediately provide a copy of the tape or a transcript.

At the press conference, a contrite Hevesi repeated what he recalled saying in the speech. The comptroller said he was merely trying to convey that Sen. Charles Schumer has strength and courage to stand up to the president.

Hevesi, while not admitting that he himself was a moron, he noted that his comments were moronic:

Hevesi also called his comments “remarkably stupid” and “incredibly moronic.”

What on Earth would make anyone anywhere - especially people in positions like his - want to say such things? (Yes, I know that’s a rhetorical question :) )

  1. Get used to comments like Hevesi’s and George Galloway’s. I predict that you will hear more and more on the Far Left opine publically about the need to kill Bush (or Blair or whoever the Left deems worthy of its hate) - and deem it a patriotic duty.

There is a line in the movie Black Hawk Down when a terrorist tells a captured American pilot, “In my country killing is negotiation.” That attitude, so true in many parts of the world, is seeping into the West at an alarming rate.

At any rate, if you thought the 2004 election was nasty, imagine what would happen if folks like Hevesi and Galloway dropped the hypocritical pretense and got down to business.
