Some UK companies taking down the Union Jack so as to not offend Muslims

Following warnings by extremist Islamic group al-Muhajiroun, in which the group said that the red cross in the England flag symbolizes the ‘blood thirsty crusaders’ and the occupation of Muslims, some of the largest companies in England have ordered their workers not to wave the flags.
The flag has recently appeared in England on everything from bikinis to cars, and sold in endless versions in stores.
But the Islamic protest forced some corporations, such as cable companies NTL, Heathrow airport in London, and even the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Agency to ban the flag in every form due to fears from reactions of Muslims.
The Sun tabloid newspaper has in recent days launched a campaign to bring back the flag, and has published a blacklist of companies preventing their workers from expressing their patriotism at work.
The Sun said that a large pub network has banned drinkers from entering with symbols of the national team.
The hero of the day is a two year-old toddler, who was thrown out with his parents from Leicester, because he wore the England team’s uniform.
Mark Steyn’s cautionary piece about caving to multicultural sensitivity comes to mind.
I agree with Tigerhawk who says: “It is time to fly the Union Jack“.

Until brave people stand up, the cowards who wish to try and appease till they are subjugated under Sharia Law, and when they finally see where their actions have gotten them, it will be too late for them.
When their and our culture, and everything they stand for is relinquished for appeasement, they will cease to exist as a country and as a people.
And i suppose now they will do that here in america becuase the sight of old glory offends those rotten antiwar pansies and maybe replace it with the rainbow flag with the 70s chicken footprint in the middle
Are they referring to the Union Jack being taken down, or St. George’s Cross? That would be the flag with the red cross on the white background, which appeared during the Crusades. I think the Union Jack first appeared in the 1600s.
I like the blended flags of the USA & the UK, but the file name is rather bad, ST.
If you won’t fly your own nation’s flag because some religious thug says he is offended, then you are a coward of the first order and deserve to be enslaved.

- BTW, on another blog, a resident of Britain responded to this story, pointing out the “pusback” among Englanders, wherein displaying the British “jack” flag has become a nationwide fetish, with “flag parties”, adhock contests, flags adorning everything in sight, and some flags as big as bedsheets thrown over house rooftops. He said as nutty as the people are about this symbol of national pride, he doubted the business thing would even be noticed.
