Limbaugh won’t be charged over possession of Viagra

Liberals who laughed hysterically when Rush was detained at Palm Beach International Airport for having a prescription bottle of of Viagra written in his doctors’ name are not laughing today:

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Rush Limbaugh will not face charges in Palm Beach County for the bottle of Viagra found in his luggage that was prescribed in his psychologist’s name, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Charges could have nullified the conservative radio host’s plea agreement in a “doctor shopping” case.

Limbaugh, 55, was detained for more than three hours at Palm Beach International Airport on June 26 after he returned on his private plane from a vacation in the Dominican Republic.

The state attorney’s office said the medication was prescribed by Limbaugh’s cardiologist, Dr. Steven Schnur, to Limbaugh’s psychologist and addiction counselor, Steve Strumwasser. Strumwasser then provided the Viagra to Limbaugh, said state attorney spokesman Mike Edmondson.

Strumwasser told authorities he “agreed to have his name on the label in an effort to avoid potentially embarrassing publicity for the suspect,” according to the state attorney’s office filing. “Thus, the medication contained in the subject pill bottle was legitimately prescribed to the suspect by his physician.”

So much for him having to appear before a judge to answer for his ‘crime.’ But the damage has already been done.

Update: I should have included this part of the story:

However, since the doctor wrote the prescription in Miami-Dade County, the case was forwarded to prosecutors there for review. The Miami-Dade state attorney’s office had no immediate comment.

The Palm Beach County state attorney’s office also said it forwarded the matter to the state Department of Professional Regulation and the Department of Health to determine whether the doctor breached ethics.

Department spokeswoman Thometta Cozart said she did not know whether the prescription was an ethical breach.

Stay tuned …

And how did a vial of Viagra endanger anybody? Why did this cause Rush to be taken aside? Where the hell is the newsworthiness in this, and when was it ever newsworthy?

      Stupid Libs. Just stupid.

I think it’s pretty funny too.

      Better living through chemistry?

      BAH!!! :-@

    3. CZ says:

Rush refers to “Thr Drive-By-Media” and exposes them at every opportunity.

I am not surprised that they they will fight back in full-force, and neither is he.

After all his personal problems and negative publicity, Rush has not been abandoned by his listeners.

Like him or not, conservatives owe this man so much!

      Megadittos! ^:)^

AND what’s more if y’all think about it, who has/have not been detained.

Consider the meaning and why/how it applies…..Hindered – Held up – Obstructed – Delayed – Hampered – Impeded – Made late…………the list continues, as does he and those of us who would presume this government funded tactic, pressured by those who insist on depleting the coffers of America, is the treasonous crap that it is. ****’em and the sow that drug’em into this century!

    5. PCD says:

Has anyone wondered how the Limbaugh detention got into the press so fast? This was a set up by Clintonistas who hate Limbaugh more than they hate Bush.

I mean set up in that they were waiting to search Rush each and every chance they got having their toadies in the MSM chomping at the bit for anything negative coming from one of these airport searches of Limbaugh.

    6. Lorica says:

Ya have to wonder in whos name is Billy Bob’s presciption in??? It makes one wonder. – Lorica =))

    7. Not Dick but Richard says:

PCD, Rush was detained because he tried to skirt around customs. If you read the official statement you will see he was involved in some suspicious activity that would have caused anyone to be searched by customs.

    8. – Yes Rich….that certainly explains how it got “Rushed” to the papers so faat. You guys are pathetic…. *snort*…. The real irony of this phoney “get Rush” scam is if inspections were really enforced bi-partisan, half the Liberal leadership would be in jail within a month.

Bang, you’re right, but with all their money, those rich, Leftist, fat-cats would be out within the hour.

Ideally, everyone’s luggage is searched coming into the US. Rush was not the target of “Clintonistas” any more than he was targetted by President Bush.

To escape prosecution, Limbaugh agreed to refrain from using illegal (prescribed or not) drugs. The Viagra scrip was in somebody else’s name. That is news and his listeners have a right to know if he is back on drugs.

    11. sanity says:

      Wrong Richard.

The suspicious activity you so mention was Rush trying to sort his bags from being mixed in with his travelling companions that were going to a different airplane. He did not try and “skirt” customs as you so rediculously say.

What suspicious activity was he involved in, besides trying to sort his bags from his companions?

      Did he run?
Did he try and hide his bags?
Did he make attempts to bribe the agents?
      Did he switch bags?

If he was hiding something, and felt he was going to be targetted, don’t you think he would have slipped any contraband into his companions luggage so not to be be caught?

He had nothing to hide, he was not resisting searches, he opened up compartments as directed – but it does sound as if two reports are not jiving either. Business as usual for the agents or something a little more out of whack?

The perscription was in Rush’s Doctors name, the doctor has confirmed this, and it was done so as not to cause embarrassment because he is highly publicized person in the media. Whether this is illegal or not, will be between the doctor and the Law, I have no clue since this is the first I have heard of such occurences. But I have heard of celebrities getting stuff under false identities to protect their privacy before…

Chief Assistant State Attorney Paul H. Zacks wrote in memo that Dr. Steven Strumwasser agreed to have his name on the label to avoid “potentially embarrassing publicity” for Limbaugh.

There was ONE pill missing out of 30 precribed, and the bottle, he stated, was in there since December – 6 months ago. Which give little credence to some of the nutty ones out there saying he went to the Dominican Republic for some taudry sexual fling, and the preaching of those on the left trying to say he is a hypocrite for having sex before marriage – again, all BS, since you are just assuming what happened because he had a bottle of viagra (skipping of course that one pill was taken in 6 months.)

      Rush transcript

Memorandum from the Office of the State Attorney for Palm Beach County can be seen at The Smoking Gun.

Rush has been in and out of this country many times, he has had nothing but praise and good things to say about Customs officials and has not had any problems up until this point. Why is that?

There was no suspicious activity you so proscribe to Richard. At no time in the reports does it even say that Rush tried to use his status as a media icon to garner favor, or special treatment either….unlike others that do that.

Are these proceedings video taped for security reasons? I would be curious as to seeing an undoctored, original time-stamped video tape of the proceedings. That would definately flesh out who is telling the truth and who is not.

    12. sanity says:

I do wish to add one thing that I mentioned in closing on this subject on my blog, was that this could have been possibly prevented if Rush had a doctors note explaining why the viagra was in his doctors name and not his.

    13. Lorica says:

OMG RUSH IS BACK ON DRUGS?!?!?!?!?! Wait Viagra isn’t a drug, it is tool to help men feel masculine again. You leftists are sooooo whacko, out of your mind crazy with with your anti-conservative ideology that you just don’t make any sense any longer. I bet within the next few years Viagara will be an Over the Counter medicine, much like asprin. It is laughable what you all call a crime when it is a conservative involved. Speaking of that how is the whole criminal case with Tom Delay going?? Ohhhh that’s right if fell apart. I hope Tom sues the district for frivilous lawsuits. I wish you all good luck when it comes to winning elections this year. “Rush is on Drugs” is just not going to be a good tag line on an election commercial. – Lorica =))

    14. “Wait Viagra isn’t a drug, it is tool to help men feel masculine again.”

That’s an interesting way of putting it, Lorica ;)

    15. Lorica says:

      LOL Well isn’t it. :d

    16. PCD says:

Niles, Nice try, but you aren’t going to get us to accept your fantasy of what happened. Radio Equalizer has the transcript of what happened. Limbaugh had to notify the government 1 week before he left that he was returning ot Miami-Dade airport from out of the country. Why is it that only Limbaugh’s personal carryon luggage searched? Why not the others’ luggage?

If you got Clintonistas leaking from the CIA to hurt the country (especially if it hurts Bush), why not the Clintonistas in the TSA try to distroy Limbaugh?

    17. Walter E. Wallis says:

No wonder the left is so anxious to regain power. They approve of the use of law enforcement to punish political opponents, and they are scared spitless the republicans will discover the practice.

    18. Lorica says:

Hear!!! Hear Walter!! I often wonder why Clinton needed 900 FBI files. We know it wasn’t for free reading on the nights Bill was sleeping on the couch either. – Lorica

    19. tom says:

From the wit of Grant Miller-

What’s the difference between a meeting with Republican lobbyists and a Dominican Republic sex vacation? When you meet with Republican lobbyists, you don’t have to take your Viagra through customs.

I hear Daryn Kagan broke up with Rush — apparently she only does hard news.

Limbaugh takes Viagra so he can be an even bigger Edited. –ST.

I heard he was supplying Viagra to President Bush. Even the President gets tired of screwing the country all the time.

This confirms that the vast right-wing conspiracy isn’t quite so vast.

He puts the “social” in “social conservative.”

Limbaugh declined to comment on the drug seizure. I guess he likes to keep his privates private.
      =))

    20. PCD says:

If Liberals, like tom, kept their sex drive solely in the bedroom, and not in public, the country would be better off.

    21. Lorica says:

If that bunch of insults is what passes for wit from the left, I am glad I won’t waste any more time with posts from tom. – Lorica

    22. tom, do yourself a favor and grow up.

    23. G-Monster says:

So long as Rush isn’t married, the women are adults, and he pays them generously, there is nothing wrong with having sex with a prostitute where prostitution is legal.

But please understand, if Rush were to be arrested of something that was wrong, say, illegal drugs, it does not have any effect on my beliefs/politics.

He talks politics, with a right wing view. I agree with alot of the things he says, but my views are my own, and are not influenced by Rush.

So if Rush goes to jail for something I will still have my views. I actually don’t listen to Rush at all, but I do read his brother’s column on Newsmax.
