“Bbbbbbut it wasn’t imminent!!!!”

Predictability, thy name is Nutroots.

Via NBC News today, we learn that the Brits and the US had a ‘significant’ disagreement as to when to move on the suspected terrorists who were planning the terror attacks that would have blown up several planes en route to the US from the UK:

LONDON – NBC News has learned that U.S. and British authorities had a significant disagreement over when to move in on the suspects in the alleged plot to bring down trans-Atlantic airliners bound for the United States.

A senior British official knowledgeable about the case said British police were planning to continue to run surveillance for at least another week to try to obtain more evidence, while American officials pressured them to arrest the suspects sooner. The official spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case.

In contrast to previous reports, the official suggested an attack was not imminent, saying the suspects had not yet purchased any airline tickets. In fact, some did not even have passports.

Hmmm. So it supposedly wasn’t “imminent”, according to this one official, but the British officials were planning on moving in on the suspects within a week, if you read between the lines of what’s reported. That sounds “imminent” enough for me.

Of course, this is all the nutroots needed to claim that the announcement of the foiling of this wave of terrorist attacks was nothing more than a political stunt by BushCo. in an attempt to paint Lamont’s win as a symbol of the Democrats weakness on fighting terror. Check out the comments to this post at Talk Left if you want to see just what I’m talking about. There are a few voices of sanity in the comments, but overall the comments seem to indicate that we should have waited to move on this case because the threat “wasn’t imminent”. What you read in the comments there is the standard for what you’ll see on other lefty blogs today in response to this article. Unbelievable.

When you read on down into the article, you’ll see the likely reason why the US wanted to act now rather than wait even a few days:

Analysts say that in recent years, American security officials have become edgier than the British in such cases because of missed opportunities leading up to 9/11.

Brains not allowed in the city of NutrootsGasp! Isn’t this exactly what the far left complained about just months after 9-11? That “Bush KNEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” but didn’t act quickly enough? And now that “Bush KNEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” and our intelligence agencies acted swiftly, it’s “politics”? LOL! I swear you cannot make this stuff up. Welcome to the city of Nutroots, where brains and common sense are strictly prohibited. The lights are on, but nobody’s home.

Toldjah So.

Oh, and I’m surprised THIS part didn’t get the nutroots riled up, too:

[The anonymous official] acknowledged that authorities had conducted electronic and e-mail surveillance as well as physical surveillance of the suspects.

Uh oh. They musta missed that one.

  1. Lordy, I hit that TalkLeft link. I think I need to bleach my brain.

Some of those folks are just scary dumb with the BDS.

  2. Severian says:

One of the most distinguishing hallmarks of the nutroots, moonbat, BDS plagued left is their absolute dissatisfaction and complaints about every single damned thing either the US in general or Bush in particular does. It’s like a cranky little toddler up past his bedtime, nothing will make them happy. If you act too late, you let it happen. If you act just in time, why did you wait so long! If you nip it in the bud, why, then it wasn’t an imminent threat! If you surveil, you’re violating people’ rights! If something happens, then you didnt’ surveil enough! Mommy, are we there yet? Are we there yet?

There is no way to satisfy people who’s whole mindset is setup to just complain and complain and complain. Misery not only loves company, it demands it, and they are bound and determined to make everyone’s lives as miserable as possible. Nothing will satisfy them as long as they are out of power, and God help us if they get back into power. Then the same mindset that finds endless and unlimited things to criticize about this administration also is the one that excuses any and all malfeasance and incompetence by a Democratic administration.

Cranky toddlers is a perfect analogy to the nutroots left.

  3. blogenfreude says:

Wow – and the Brits caught those terrorists without invading Syria or Iran? Imagine that.

And sorry – the surveillance done on the terrorists was done with warrants. No Patriot Act required!

    Ain’t science amazing?

  4. Severian says:

I see a new cranky toddler has woken up from his nappies!

    Ok, I will bite?
    Who invaded Iran and Syria?
You brought it up for some idiotic reason, please clarify, because your statement is nothing but gibberish since no one has invaded either country.

Ah, rehashing the Patriot act hmmm?
Is that why the Democrats voted to extend it?
Also, where in the article does it mention anything about warrants being used in the surveillance, or how it was carried out?

Science is only as good as the use it is put to.
It also only works if put to use.

What do you mean, “we”? Did you arrest anybody? Did any American?

This was, first and foremost, a British operation. Americans were extras in this drama.

There was a disagreement between Britain and the U.S. on timing. Was it a difference of philosophy — or did politics enter into it? Oh, sorry, I forgot — you and your pals on the right have declared it politically incorrect even to ask that question.

  7. “Oh, sorry, I forgot — you and your pals on the right have declared it politically incorrect even to ask that question.”

Nah, we’ve just exposed the far left’s pathetic habit of trying to make every significant positive development in the war on terror out to be “bad news” or “politically motivated.”

Nice spin on making the US look like mere “extras” in this bust. An “extra” in a movie, for example, plays no major role. Leave it to the left to try to downplay our role in the foiling of this terrorist attack. I’m guessing by doing it’s an attempt to diminish the role the admin’s policies played in helping to crack this case? Just a wild guess …

  8. Baklava says:

No. It’s not politically incorrect to ask that question Steve M. It just indicates/shows your mindset. And we talk about it. You can keep showing your mindset or deceive us and not show it.

It’s actually pretty comical what you guys do, yet serious stuff this WOT.

  9. Mr. Forward says:

I question the timing. If Karl Rove is such a political genius wouldn’t it make more sense to time the arrests before the Lamont election and not after? Or closer to the November elections?

  10. Mr. Forward, if he was so allmighty smart we would have seeen WMDs.

  11. And sorry – the surveillance done on the terrorists was done with warrants.

The UK law enforcement policies are a much greater infringement of civil liberties than anything in the patriot act.

  12. Severian says:

Guess over 500 active munitions filled with mustard gas and sarin, and dual use facilities next to warehouses full of empty chemical munition shells, just waiting to be filled, and mobile labs don’t count eh? You’ve got your head somewhere TC, but it’s not out in the open.

  13. CavalierX says:

Oh, it’s the same old thing all over again. If terrorists are stopped before they pull off their plan, the cry is, “but they didn’t do anything!” If they carry out their plan, it’s “why didn’t we do something?” Translation: the Bush adminstration just can’t win with these Leftist idiots, no matter what they do or don’t do. Why? Because it’s Bush.

  14. Severian says:

If Bush announced that he had personally discovered the cure for cancer, the Left would whine about Bush not caring about medical workers because he had just put so many of them out of work. It’s a no win situation with these types, nothing is ever what they want.

Reagan was right when he said that Democrats act like every day is April 15th and Republicans act like every day is the 4th of July. There’s something inherently depressed and gloomy by the Loony Left’s attitude about just about everything. Depression shouldn’t form the basis for a political ideology.

  15. LOL! ROTFL!
    Severianaian, you’re like… kazoo!

  16. Big Bang Hunter says:

    - This has all the earmarks of a Liberal press Oped in the guise of news. I’m not buying it. the left has pulled this “fake but accurate” crap too many times. They lie everytime they open their mouths. When I see some real source acredidations I will pay attention. Until then, its just more of the lamestream media trying to turn a win for Bush into something shady and sinister. The Left will do and say anything to regain power. Must make living with yourself a bitch. Oh wait. that would be the case if any of the moonbats had an ounce of personal pride or character.

    - Bang **==

  17. Drewsmom says:

The loony left was in full mose with howie deanie beanie was on TV this past week-end.
These people are pathetic examples of human beings.
Bob Beckle is making a fool outta himself right now on Fox. They are like enegizer bunnies, they kepp going, and going and going. Wish I had some ammo so I could assist in some useful target practice, but alas, I am not for murder, the dems has captured that maket. [-(

  18. Leslie says:

Yes indeed. If we arrest ‘em, it’s a cheap political trick, and if we don’t arrest ‘em it’s because we’re incompetent and can’t find ‘em, and anyway Iraq was no threat and we didn’t get Bin Laden and we’re not concentrating on the war on terror while creating more terrorists in Iraq and Israel should go out of business, and what about Guantanamo? What about the Eskimo? There ain’t no sanity clause, and “the piano has been drinking, not me.”
