Romney to throw hat into the ring

He’s done the exploratory committee thing, and today, he will (or has?) announce(d) his intentions to run for the Republican nomination for president of the US. Drudge has an advance copy of Governor Romney’s speech.

He’s announcing the speech in the state he was born in: Michigan. Mark Hemingway at NRO explains why Michigan is such an important state in terms of primary votes for presidential contenders.

    What do you want to make a bet the biggest thing his opponents will talk about is his faith and how his faith will make his decisions or bias his decisions if elected?

    Everyone remembers how on the day Barack Obama announced his presidential candidacy, the MSM was awash with stories of how he is on the “far left” of social issues. Or not.

    Not only does Obama support partial birth abortion, as an Illinois state senator he twice voted against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. Read the disturbing details here. Though Obama’s record clearly puts him to the extreme port side of the political spectrum on social issues, I challenge readers to cite any MSM description of Obama as “far left.”

    But it’s a whole different MSM ball-game when it comes to labelling Republicans. Literally within minutes of his official announcement this morning, MNSBC applied the “far right” tag to Mitt Romney.

    As an Evangelical Christian, I would vote for Mitt. I think he is a pretty good guy, and is sensible enough to do a wonderful job as President. – Lorica

    Not sure where to put this, since there’s not an open thread for today, but this thread about Republicans and the 08 race seems appropriate.

    Republican U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood of Georgia has died after a long battle with cancer, his office announced today. He was 65.
