Why are certain folks opposing a statue of a Navy SEAL in Littleton, Colorado?

W. Thomas Smith, Jr. has the details.

In a nutshell, some folks are viewing the proposed statue as ‘too violent’ – because the statue is of fallen Navy SEAL Danny Dietz holding a rifle.

There was a suggestion by one resident that instead of a statue, Dietz’s sacrifice deserved a ‘peace dove.’ David Harsanyi responds appropriately to that suggestion.

I couldn’t believe this story when I first heard about it. WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY?!?!?! This man was the definition of hero and we are so PC that we don’t want to have a statue of him because he’s holding a gun?!?!?! The same gun that he used to protect his fellow soldiers from the scum of the Taliban. The same gun that he used to allow his buddies to escape.

    Where will it end?x(x(
