4/18: Here’s my followup post to this one.
—–

A little light-hearted news to lighten the mood a little, via Ben Smith:

Well, John Edwards’ campaign for president spent $400 on February 20, and another $400 on March 7, at a top Beverly Hills men’s stylist, Torrenueva Hair Designs.

The expensive haircut is, of course, a perennial. Bill Clinton got zinged for getting a cut from Cristophe, and Hillary was found at one point to have buried a stylist on her campaign payroll.

[...]

Edwards’ campaign also spent money at two spas: Designworks Salon in Dubuque, and Pink Sapphire in Manchester.

Smith also links up to this infamous video, which is always good for a laugh or three:

Now I have never understood why anyone would spend that amount of money on their hair - especially a man. No offense, but take a look at Edwards. I mean, what is there to cut? My dad has been going to a barbershop for decades and could get the same decent cut for about $12.

  1. Now here’s a real man!

Thanks to Sister Toldjah, I found out that former Senator John Edwards spends $400 on a haircut — and did so twice in a two week period. Mr Edwards has frequently criticized WalMart for not paying its people enough — and he just droppe…

  1. Designworks must be the cheapest damn spa in the area. They only have a one line with phone number in the yellow pages.

Maybe this spa was chosen because it is on a main drag to the local hospitals. Edwards could hear the ambulance sirens and chase after any of them that passed by.

  2. Today, under George W. Bush, there are two Americas, not one:

One America that cuts the hair, another that reaps the coiffure.

    :o)

  3. OK, Sis, you have to send me the instructions on where to get that You Tube and how to play it on my site! :)

Can we say Metrosexual, people? \:d/

  5. Hmmm, did anyone notice how much hair spray, in an aerosol can, that Edwards used? It didn’t seem to environment friendly!!! /:)

  6. NC Cop,

Ever wonder why hair dressers don’t smoke on the job?? Just think of the James Bond movie, “Live and Let Die”, and what Bond does with his aerosol and cigar.

  7. Let me get this right…he spent $400 twice, only two weeks apart?

Exactly how shaggy can you get in only two weeks?? I go six weeks between haircuts and I don’t exactly look like a sheepdog.

He must reallllly like every single hair to be just so perfect…

A few questions occur to me:

    1. How much does he contribute to global warming by jetting out to Beverly Hills every two weeks to visit his stylist? And has Al Gore lectured him on this?

    2. Since he has so much time to worry about getting his hair looking perfect, as well as visiting spas, has anyone seen him doing anything like visiting a hospital for the troops or veterans? Or are they only useful when the cameras are rolling?

  8. OK, Sis, got hooked up — and gave you the credit!

Whatever possessed Mr Edwards to let himself be photographed like that? And what on earth ever made good Southern folk from Carolina vote for him in the first place?

  9. Mr Edwards is fond of telling us how his father was a working man, at whatever job he had. Well, let the real working men in this country get a look at that You Tube, and he’s toast on election day. I don’t think my 18 year old daughter puts that much effort into her hair.

You can count on one thing, though: it won’t be long before we see film of Mr Edwards doing some manly work around the house, while wearing (designer) blue jeans and boots, with dirt under his fingernails; I do hope he doesn’t actually break one!

He’ll probably even buy a pickup truck!

  10. $400 for a haircut and I worry about paying my power bill late and sitting in the dark. That is pathetic that he goes out and pretends he is for the poor people of this country, give me a break. Can folks really be that dumb to fall for the Breck guy’s crap? :-w

  12. Maybe this “stylist” gets paid piecework wages?

If I had to pay my barber for finding enough hair(s) to cut, he might charge me $400. :((

  15. if this is all you guys can come up with on John Edwards it will be an easy race! Nice try.

“As for the haircuts, the bill was sent to the campaign, it was paid in error, and Edwards will be reimbursing the campaign,” says campaign spokesperson Eric Schultz.”

  17. c’mon cherie, edwards doesn’t really have a chance in hell.

Pretty boy and lawyer…..or would you rather metro-sexual and lawyer?

I don’t have alot against either, but I don’t see him as caring about the middle class and I believe many will see it that way too. Plus there is much more - but the biggest thing I get is that he doesn’t care as much as he pretends to about middle class americans or lower class or the poor for that matter.

Personally I think it will come down to Obama and Clinton, the rest is just noise at this point.

Oh cherie, it isn’t all by a long shot, but it’s just so much fun to show that he lacks….gravitas. :d
