LOS ANGELES (AP) – So he wasn’t elected president. Big deal. How many other presidential candidates have an Emmy and an Oscar sitting on the shelf at home?
Former Vice President Al Gore took home an Emmy Sunday night for creative achievement in interactive television for Current TV, his youth-oriented television channel.
“We are trying to open up the television medium so that viewers can help them make television and join the conversation of democracy and reclaim American democracy by talking about the choices we have to make,” Gore said as he accepted the award.
“Reclaim” American democracy? I didn’t know it went anywhere. Well, ok, I know to the Goracle and other Bush-hating lefties, it went “somewhere” when the 2000 elections were supposedly “stolen” but then again, he and his supporters don’t exactly live in reality, do they?
In related news, actress Sally Field also won an Emmy tonight, and used it as an opportunity to bash men, fathers, and war, all in the last sentence of her speech on winning the award. Liberal blogs are already expressing their displeasure because that part of her speech was bleeped out. I think it was because she used a curse word prior to it, but they’re assuming a Fox conspiracy of sorts.
Mon AM Update: Don Surber on the Sally Field ‘controversy’:
1. You have to be a government in order to censor.
2. They cut her off when she used the G-word. This was an over-the-air show that is regulated by the FCC.
You know, maybe if lefties could learn to complete a simple declarative sentence without swearing, they would not run into these problems.
He also points to a WaPo piece which notes that Field wasn’t the only one who had her cursing bleeped out by Fox. Funny how we’re not seeing the lefty outrage over that, too.
And Bob Owens blogs about the issue as well, and points out the dishonesty of LA Times blogger Tom O’Neil, who is acting in the role of Sally Field apologist.

I never watch those stupid, self-congratulating award shows.
And let’s not forget, he invented the internet, too.
I’m with camojack, don’t want to see a bunch of hollywierdos pat themselves on the back and as far as algore goes they had to give him his token emmy, couldn’t let that other awards show one up.
Yeah, he’s got an Oscar and an Emmy, but I had to scrape the frost off my windshield this morning, and it’s still summer! Where’s his !@#$%^& global warming?
“If mothers ran the world there’d be no ***damned war”…(expletive deleted)…
- Right, There’d come a morning when mother President would wake up with rampaging PMS and nuke everything out of existance. “Gee, figuring out which dress to wear for this evenings dinner date was harder than nuking Newark.”
- The poor osteoporosis-powered nun has just never been the same since Burt dumped her.
- BBH –
Does a week go by without some awards show taking up TV time? They never end, do they?
Poor Sally. Bandit dumped her and she was left to cuddle up to Smokey. I really don’t like her!
WOW!! Replace “democracy” with the word “Nationalism” and you could swear this guy is using Hitler’s speech writer. This man is so horribly deluded. Al, you lost the election 7 years ago bud, it is time to let it go. You tried to bring the Supreme Court into the “conversation of democracy” and you lost get over it. It was your own fault, so suck it up and try acting like a man and alittle less like a spoiled liberal elitist brat. – Lorica

Have you been to Newark recently? It’s already been nuked!
And Guess who’s been running Newark for how many years?? Hmmmmm Things that make you go Hmmmmm. – Lorica
Ah Sally Field… well, at least she was in Smokey and the Bandit.
I love that movie!
Exactly! Is there a month that goes by without some sort of award show to the most superficial, materialistic, ignorant, self-absorbed people on the planet? Then they have the nerve to tell the rest of us who we should vote for, how we should spend our money, and how we should live our lives!!!!
Hey Sally, put on your nun costume and fly around because nobody could care less what you think about the world.
The fact that it was Fox that it happened on is why they are bleating so much on the left, the only reason.
They despise Fox so much that conforming to FCC rules doesn’t mater to them, because its FOX NEWS. If this would have happened on ABC, CNN, CBS, ect I doubt there would be any outcry at all.
The funny thing is, the ones complaining so much seem to be watching Fox News, increasing its viewership. The irony is hilarious.
New Fox logo should be:
Fox News, Even Liberals have a hard time not watching us!
I also have to wonder, are the viewership down on
Hollywood patting each other on the backthese award shows, because people are getting sick of hearing them get all political on these shows and carry off on rants on national tv, using the award ceremony to make some sort of political statement?I also have to believe that these type of actions, political statements and rants during award ceremonies, is also the reason why movies are taking nose dives in viewerships. Too many times people are having a hard time separating the actor in the movie with their rants and raves on political situations and it turns people off from watching.
