Seahawks at the Panthers (UPDATE: PANTHERS WIN 13-10)

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on December 16, 2007 at 1:10 pm

Gametime is now – the Seahawks are looking good at 9-4, while the Panthers are … well, you know. 3rd stringer Matt Moore is the starting QB.

The Patriots are on their home turf today taking on the hapless Jets, so don’t look for their unbeaten streak to be broken.

The Jags/Steelers game should be a good one, as both teams are at 9-4. The Jags, I’m sure you’ll remember (while I’ve been trying to forget), pounced on the Panthers 37-6 last week.

Update: What a weird game – no one scored until the middle of the 4th quarter. Can’t believe the Cats pulled it off but they did – and Matt Moore didn’t look half bad, either.

In other news, Bret Favre has just passed Dan Marino to become the all-time leader in career passing yards. The Pack is easily handling St. Louis 30-14 late in the 4th qtr.

The next game on Fox is the Eagles at the Cowboys – gametime is 4:15 ET.

I’ll admit I took the Seahawks to win, but at least I took the Panthers with the long 8.

All they have to do is touch the ensuing onside kick and there’s your get-better upset of the day.

  2. steveegg says:

And the Panthers win, 13-10. Thanks for doing your half in giving the Packers a bye.

  3. LOL steve – anything we can do to help ;)

  4. steveegg says:

Sure sounds like you’re doing better. Now I’ve got a touch of the winter cold (with snowfall at 1970s levels, no wonder on that one).

  5. Yep – feeling much better, thanks. Just trying to get caught up on everything I’m behind on now ;)

Sorry to hear you are under the weather. But I’m sure GB’s win makes you feel a little better :)

  6. steveegg says:

The cold season is spreading north. Fortunately, I caught the signs early, so all it really needed was a few hours of rest and a Packer win.

I can’t believe the Dolphins won.

  7. PCD says:

Yeah, thanks for puncturing Holmgren’s ego. I love it when HE loses.

Now to crush the Bears and the Lions to finish 14-2!!!

  8. Tango says:

    aaaaw riiiiight PANTERS! :d

  9. NC Cop says:

I would also like to mention that I attended this Panthers game as well. So as near as I can figure that’s two of the last home games they have won have been attended by yours truly. Actually since the only home games they have won since LAST YEAR have both been attended by me I think I’m going to write to the Panthers and request season tickets as their official “good luck” charm!! :d:d:d

  10. NC Cop says:

Now if only the Giants can pull it off tonight!!!

    GO G-MEN!!!!

  11. G-Monster says:

I’m glad the Dolphins won, but I wish they would of saved the win for next week against the Patriots. It would have been much sweeter. Hopefully they pull off another win next week and defend thier 1972 record.

Next week the Cowboys head for Carolina. Given the way the ‘Boys have played the last two weeks, it could be a wild one.

Currently the ‘Boys are in the middle of another Dallas December Dive (TM). For lifelong Cowboy fans like myself, this is a well-established feature of Jerry Jones’ teams for over a decade. Jerry starts every year firmly believing that the team is one player away from a Super Bowl victory. Not a winning season, not a playoff appearance, not a Super Bowl appearance – a Super Bowl victory.

To that end Jones invests in Me-Myself-and-I players like TO (Team Obliterator) who fold in big games. Meanwhile, the team is stocked with starters like Crayton, Adams, Kosier and James who would have trouble making the practice squad on other NFL teams.

I am currently listening to Cowboys Overtime (Internet streaming) while I compose my final exams. The announcers are a hoot – Denial River is flowing in Dallas tonight! They say now is not the time to panic. I say – if not now, when? Next week? When the Cowboys do another one-and-out in the playoffs? I predict the Dallas December Dive (TM) is the most consistent aspect of this team, and the ‘Boys will spend Super Bowl weekend watching TV in Dallas. No need to worry about Lambeau in December – Dallas will never get that far.

With that behind me, the time has officially come to declare WAR on ST and her Karolina Kittens. FOR THE NEXT 6 DAYS WE ARE ENEMIES (all caps mean I am rudely shouting)!!!

    MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

  13. NC Cop says:

Fear not, MD, for I shall not be attending the Cowboys/Panthers game so your chances for a cowboy victory are excellent!!

Seriously though, even if Dallas lost the last two games of the season, they would still win the division. My Giants don’t look too good right now against the Redskins, and the last game of their season is against the Patriots. So Dallas has won the division, but I guess if you’re talking about home field advantage I understand your concern.

  14. Mwalimu Daudi says:

    NC Cop:

According to Foxsports, both Green Bay and Dallas have clinched first-round byes. Green Bay won theirs outright, while Dallas backed into it when Seattle lost. I believe that there is a big difference between the two. Don’t be surprised if Dallas squeaks by the Kittens (in a coyote-ugly game) and gets blown out by the Redskins the following week – and faces the prospect of Lambeau in January.

Green Bay looks like they are hitting their stride, while the ‘Boys are reverting to preseason errors and screwups. This is a carbon copy of their Decembers for the past few seasons.

  15. Great White Rat says:

I’m not impressed with the way the Cowboys have played the last few weeks. This is NOT a good time for a letdown.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! If cash is the reason, where do I send it? :d

    Let’s go Cats!

  17. PCD says:

    NC Cop,

If I had the spare sheckels, I’d take you to the game personally.

  18. LOL – there’s more enthusiasm in this post for the Panthers than I’ve seen for them all year here in Charlotte ;)

  19. Ryan says:

My fantasy football team, a team that finished the regular season with the highest point total, just laid an egg in the semifinals yesterday, scoring a season low point total.

Thanks for the single point, Marian Barber. Thanks for the single point, Dallas Clark. And thanks, Mother Nature, for limiting my QB to a whopping six points.

    Go Vikings!

  20. PCD says:

19, Sorry Ryan, I’m rooting for the Bears tonight. I don’t want the ViQueens in the playoffs no way, no how.

  21. Tango says:

…it’s said that this may well be Coach Fox’s last season with the Panters. And I suspect Jake del Homme isn’t long for the team, either. We’ll see….:-"

‘Tis what happens when they start winning, and those wins mean something (even if they only mean something outside the Carolinas).

  23. PCD says:

    Tango,

I think you’ll see a entire new crop of QBs emerge, like Todd Collins, Sage Rosenfels, and others that are getting a chance because of injuries.

Look Samkon Gado is the RB in Miami and doing a good job because of injuries. Same with Ryan Grant in GB.

  24. Tango says:

PCD, it has been ever thus in the NFL. BTW, I’m reading Tony Dungy’s book, Quiet Strength. It’s extraordinarily well done, and should be required reading, IMO… =d>=d>=d>

  25. PCD says:

Hey, ST, any chance Jessica Simpson can be at the game Saturday? Yahoo News is saying that she distracted Romo and is to blame for the Cowboys poor performance.

Maybe have an emergency collection for owners’ box tickets for both Simpson and NC Cop to ensure a Carolina victory?

  26. PCD says:

Make your own Jessica Simpson Mask for the Cats-Cowboys game!

Since ST doesn’t have her football thread up yet, I thought I’d get the ball rolling.
