Hillary busts a move – PLUS: In defense of being a liberal?

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on February 23, 2008 at 7:11 pm

Hillary Clinton, desperate to gain traction going into the March 4th primaries, lashed out today against what she and her campaign are calling a misleading and false attack on her universal healthcare plan by Barack Obama. Click here to watch. It’s probably the angriest we’ve seen her this campaign season.

In other news, a couple of prominent liberal blogs are perplexed about a speech Barack Obama gave recently where essentially discounted the accusation that he was a liberal. Via MSNBC’s First Read blog:

AUSTIN, Texas — In the shadow of the state capitol that provided the United States with one of the most conservative presidents in recent history, Obama last night railed against the charge that being “liberal” was a bad thing.

“Oh, he’s liberal” he said. “He’s liberal. Let me tell you something. There’s nothing liberal about wanting to reduce money in politics that is common sense. There’s nothing liberal about wanting to make sure [our soldiers] are treated properly when they come home.”

Continuing on his riff: “There’s nothing liberal about wanting to make sure that everybody has healthcare, but we are spending more on healthcare in this country than any other advanced country. We got more uninsured. There’s nothing liberal about saying that doesn’t make sense, and we should [d]o something smarter with our health care system. Don’t let them run that okie doke on you!”

He just wants people to allow him to run “okie dokes” on them

On a related issue: Ralph Nader expected to launch an independent bid for the White House in 2008.

Care to place any bets that the MSM will (a) spin this as bad news for the GOP, or (b) ignore it completely?

These two quotes from Obama in the above link are priceless:

“Mr. Nader is somebody who, if you don’t listen and adopt all of his policies, thinks you’re not substantive. He seems to have a pretty high opinion of his own work.”

    And:

“I don’t mean to diminish [Nader],” he said. “I do think there is a sense now that if somebody is not hewing to the Ralph Nader agenda, then you must be lacking in some way.”

Oh, really? I mean, Democrats have never themselves done that. Except on issues like the Iraq War, “free” health care, global warming, defense spending, taxes, abortion, “hate crime” laws, earmarks, trade, education, government regulation, etc.

I will remember Obama’s quotes in November when he and others in the Democrat Party are demonizing McCain and the GOP for not agreeing with Democrats 100% of the time.

I had a Corvair in college, and really liked it. Wouldn’t mind finding a ‘65 or later Corsa Spider convertible now.

I still own a Suzuki Samurai, 20 years old this month and still going strong. Two great cars killed by slander, one so Ralph could establish a name for himself, the other so he’d have an excuse to go after SUVs. All it took were a few falsehoods loudly expressed and some rigged tests.

Ask me what I think of Ralph Nader. Go ahead, I dare you. The man would sell, rape, or kill his own grandmother if the price were right and he could get some headlines out of it. He hasn’t made anyone safer, but he has aggrandized himself.

Like anyone should be taking car advice from a man without a drivers license…:-w

  4. New post up on the Nader announcement here. Thanks for the tip, MD! :)
