Hillary Clinton quote of the week

Via the NY Daily News:

“Now, I could stand up here and say, ‘Let’s just get everybody together. Let’s get unified. The sky will open. The light will come down. Celestial choirs will be singing, and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect.’”

I think it’s safe to say that at this point she’s pulling out all the stops in advance of next Tuesday’s big primaries. In answer to Joe Gandelman’s question, I think this tactic is a mistake because she’s attacking Obama’s lofty rhetoric, which is one of his main draws, if his Britney Spears-like rallies are any indication.

When you have an unlikeable person like Hillary Clinton attacking the rhetorical skills of someone who has based a large part of his candidacy on the ability to successfully sway significant numbers of people with his misleading eloquence, the political reality is that such attacks rarely work. If the negative reactions of The Ususal Suspects is any indication, next Tuesday we’ll see that I’m right.

Mrs. Clinton has many problems, a jerk for a husband, a massive ego and a modest intellect. However a major problem for Mrs. Clinton is her total lack of nuance. She can not project more that one image at time, or even within the same week.

So we see the Christmas version of Mrs. Clinton giving us all those gifts, like medical care and green energy. Then we see the soft Mrs. Clinton. The weeping Mrs. Clinton and now the angry Mrs. Clinton.

A leader needs to have nuance and to be able to deliver simultaneous message. Example, Fred’s slam on Michael Moore.

Mrs. Clinton is not ready to be president, and I doubt she ever will be. The first thing Mrs. Clinton needs to do do show that she tough enough to lead is get a divorce. Till then.
