Clinton supporters: McCain’s military experience not the right kind of military experience

James Joyner calls the remarks “a spectacularly dumb line of attack.” I concur. Click the link to read the arguments supporters like General Wesley Clark and feminista Gloria Steinem are making about McCain’s military experience, and let me know your thoughts.

How long until we see pictures of Hillary riding around in a tank? :d

Apparently, the “right” kind of military experience is whining for a Purple Heart for every scratch, using that as an excuse to bug out for home, and then stabbing your comrades in arms in the back with anti-war activities and testimony. Yeah, as much as I dislike McCain he fails in that “test” of military experience. 8-|

Steinem insisted that “from George Washington to Jack Kennedy and PT-109 we have behaved as if killing people is a qualification for ruling people.”

Amazing how Steinem can belittle the scarifices that these men have made with their military careers. Amazing how she gets to write off just how hard it is to lead men into battle to kill other people. What it does to a man’s psyche, is just brushed aside by someone whose only claim to fame is destroying that which women most beautiful to a man.

One can make the argument with some credibility that seven years in the Senate as a backbencher and eight years as the partner of a Commander-in-Chief provides enough experience to make strategic decisions. But to argue that she’s “the most experienced and capable person in the race” on these issues is laughably absurd.

AMEN!!! Has Wes Clark sold his soul and intelligence to the devil or has he always been this utterly stupid?? All that McCain has gone thru, and has overcome is unimportant compared to Hitlery’s experience?? I don’t think so. – Lorica

    Let’s review, shall we?

1992: Bush vs. Clinton: “Military experience is NOT important, it doesn’t make you a better commander in chief!!!”

1996: Dole vs. Clinton: “Military experience is NOT important, it doesn’t make you a better commander in chief!!!”

2000: Bush vs. Gore: “Military experience is essential to being commander in chief!!! Gore was in Vietnam, Bush chickened out!!!”

2004: Bush vs. Kerry: “Military experience is essential to being commander in chief!!! Kerry is a “war hero” which would make him a perfect president. Bush chickened out!!!”

2008: McCain vs. Clinton/Obama: “Military experience is NOT important, it doesn’t make you a better commander in chief!!!”

Ahhh, we’ve come full circle. They hypocrisy of the left is absolutely mind blowing!

John McCain is third generation U.S.Navy. Barack Obama is more like a first generation multi-cultural experiment, who came of age after the active selective service draft ended 1/27/73. We don’t have any way of knowing how Obama would react in a crisis.

So according to Steinem, having a vagina is a more important qualification? Or did I miss some nuance in her argument?
