GWB-hater to play GHW Bush in Oliver Stone “film”

Variety Magazine reports:

Director Oliver Stone has set James Cromwell to play George Herbert Walker Bush and Ellen Burstyn to play former first lady Barbara Bush in “W,” a drama about the formative years of their son, President George W. Bush.

Van Helsing reminds us that Cromwell, who played Jack Bauer’s father on 24, had this to say to the European press last year about the US:

“I can’t handle living in the United States of America when I know the last two elections were rigged, and that we were denied our right to vote, where we live in a country where 32 percent of the people vote and even those people’s votes don’t count, and the people who should really have a stake, kids, don’t have any say at all – people of color, very little to say, unions, practically nothing any more … we’re losing our jobs. …”

And who is portraying W?

Josh Brolin is playing the title character, and Elizabeth Banks will play first lady Laura Bush.

Brolin is the son of James Brolin, who is married to noted Bush-despiser Babs Streisand. Does the “Dumbya” hatred run in the family? :-?

Stone was quoted in January as saying:”It will contain surprises for Bush supporters and his detractors.”

Considering the political leanings of Stone, as well as the fact that its release is scheduled shotrly before the sun sets on the Bush administration, I highly doubt that.

If Cromwell “can’t handle living in the United States”, then he is free to leave. I wonder why he doesn’t?

Oh, believe me Oliver, if there is a single, solitary fact anywhere in that film, I’ll be surprised.

Can you say, “flop”? Can you say, “poorly attended”?

Oliver Stone once has something to offer. But that was a long time ago.

Now all he is a bitter lying revisionist bleeding heart liberal.

It shows in his films these days.

Stone will use the same tactic that he used for his WTC film. During the intitial run in the US he stressed that is was about firefighters and bravery.

But then Stone went overseas and plugged the movie as anti-Bush and trashed America at every opportunity.

I have no idea what was actually in the WTC movie and I’ll never see another Stone film. Who couldn’t understand Stone out after he made JFK.

In all my days I have never seen anyone describe the Democratic party so perfectly. =d> Thank you Mr. Cromwell, it is about time someone started to speak truth to the power hungry individuals that run the Democratic party. – Lorica

Does it surprise anyone that the village idiot (stone) hires more idiots to portray the president and his family? What is comical about all of this is the fact that Hollywood types really think that injecting their political views into entertainment really advances their agenda. How many movies with and obvious anti-american agenda (redacted comes to mind) bomb at the box office? It is part and partial of the contempt that the left-leaning Hollywood types have for the consumers of their product in that they think that we are really that swayed by what they think. The fact is, they do not yet understand that those of us in ‘flyover’ country are not as simple and stupid as they would have themseleves to believe.
