Senior Clinton officials: Hillary to concede later this week

The NYT happily reports that the junior Senator from NY has finally decided to call it quits:

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will endorse Senator Barack Obama on Saturday, bringing a close to her 17-month campaign for the White House, aides said. Her decision came after Democrats urged her on Wednesday to leave the race and allow the party to coalesce around Mr. Obama.

Howard Wolfson, one of Mrs. Clinton’s chief strategists, and other aides said she would express support for Mr. Obama and party unity at an event in Washington that day. One adviser said that Mrs. Clinton would concede defeat, congratulate Mr. Obama and proclaim him the party’s nominee, while pledging to do what was needed to assure his victory.

Her decision came after a day of conversations with supporters on Capitol Hill about her future now that Mr. Obama had clinched the nomination. Mrs. Clinton had, in a speech after Tuesday night’s primaries, suggested that she wanted to wait before deciding about her future, but in conversations throughout the day on Wednesday, her aides said, she was urged to step aside.

The article went to note that Barack Obama announced three-member VP selection committee which includes Caroline Kennedy. It also pointed out that the newly crowned Democrat nominee is already busy trying to rewrite his history on the Israeli/Palestinian/Iran conflict:

Mr. Obama appeared before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, where, tacking to the right, he described a far tougher series of sanctions that he would be willing to impose on Iran than he had outlined during the campaign.

Apparently his speech was potent enough that Hamas unendorsed him.

Mrs. Clinton, during an earlier appearance there, moved to reassure an audience clearly nervous about Mr. Obama’s views on Israeli security.

“I know that Senator Obama will be a good friend to Israel” she said.

Oh really? Seriously? Her claims should be met with a healthy dose of skepticism, especially considering that I don’t think a woman who hugged and kissed Yasser Arafat’s wife Suha in 1999 – after Mrs. Arafat had just gotten done accusing Israel of delberately using poison gas against Palestinian women and children – could really understand what it means to be a “good friend to Israel.” It looks like the Obama Reinvention Tour 2008 is in full swing, with a little help from his now-former opponent. He ran a far left campaign (where he is clearly most comfortable) during the primaries, and now he – aided by a willing MSM – will try to paint himself as a “centrist.” And the beat goes on.

Anyway, I’m getting off track here. Back to Mrs. C. conceding her campaign, I’d say a song dedication is in order:

  1. In one way, it’s sad: I wanted to see a bloody fight on the convention floor in Denver. Still, Lady Macbeth has done well, providing our side with reams of material for the general election campaign.

    Thanks, Hill. :)>-

I can’t understand how American Jews, and anyone else who wants Israel to prosper, would trust the Dems on that issue.

Which world leader was the most frequent guest at the Clinton White House? Yassar Arafat.

Which political party does former President Carter belong to, he who was best buds with Arafat and who has done everything possible to support Hamas short of strapping on a Semtex vest and walking into an Israeli day care center?

Nancy Pelosi, Assad’s close personal pal, is a member of which party?

McDermot and Bonior, who sucked up to Saddam, the guy who launched Scuds into Israel, belong to which party?

So Obama today is resolute about standing up to the genocidal thugs who wish to destroy Israel? He wasn’t yesterday, and who knows what his position will be tomorrow. He’s got a big bus, big enough for racist typical white granny, for Rev. Wright, for Rezko, for Samanthat Power, for Robert Malley, and for the whole damned Trinity Church. You think there isn’t room under it for the nation of Israel too?

The man has proven that he will shake your hand, look you in the eye, and make a heartfelt promise that lasts only as long as it takes him to walk out of the room.

……….fixed it Steve. He could’ve been visiting at Silky Pony’s, with the fifteen minute hallways.

Yep, you can set them up right next to the Nation of Islam pukes. – Lorica
