Damn:
Barack Obama has a two-point advantage over John McCain in the traditionally Republican state of North Carolina.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Tar Heel State shows Obama attracting 49% of the vote while McCain earns 47%. A week ago, McCain held a three-point edge. This is the first time in eight Rasmussen Reports polls that Obama has held any kind of a lead in North Carolina, though the candidates were tied once as well.
According to RCP’s list of past polling numbers, this is the first time Obama’s been up ever – in any poll – in NC. The McCain campaign is stepping up efforts here, but their staff far outnumbers Mc’s.
Must remain calm. Must remain calm.

As a D to an R, I wouldn’t panic yet. Elections still a month away, and the debates will change everything in the near(?) future. And with weeks like this, who knows what the polls will look like next week…?
Don’t worry. The poll was primed. You can see for yourself. The survey begins by asking:
Hmm…seems a little odd, now that we have been in main campaign mode for so long.
So what are they doing? They are reminding people that Bush is a Republican (with very low approval ratings)…and whats McCain again???? Because, lo and behold! look at question #2:
I’m sorry, but any reputable poll would have asked the “If the election were held today” question first, and THEN gone about asking question to generate the crosstabs.
It’s dishonest.
No panic at all. There’s no way Barack Obama wins NC. No way at all. I will go so far as to say that he won’t win a single southern red state and no, it’s not republican racism, it’s DEMOCRAT racism. I’ve heard it from people myself. Hillary supporters who won’t support a black man no matter what.
