Media bias and Barack Obama

Posted by: ST on September 29, 2008 at 10:30 pm

Glenn Reynolds posts an email he rec’d from someone who works in a major network’s newsroom:

“Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working.” I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.

So now I know what “freedom of the press” means: The freedom of the press to help elect their guy.

Lightbulb moment! *-:)

Suddenly the National Enquirer seems like a valid news source and CNN,NYT, MSNBC, and the other 95% of what is considered MSM seem like tabloids to me.

This is quite the slippery slope we are going down. When the media starts deciding elections, as I think it will in this one, we have ceased being a democracy. Whoever this brave soul is who sent this e-mail he needs to stand up and start naming names. We cannot sit by while the media decides the fate of our nation. If and when the Republicans ever get the majority back, they need to call some of the presidents of these news organizations to answer some questions.

Of course, this will never happen, but if our Congress can haul in the CEO’s of oil companies, why not the heads of major news outlets. The oil companies may be trying to screw us, but at least they are not dictating who will run this country.

Problem is the first one to come out publicly is committing career suicide. it’s not like we all didn’t already know this is true, I mean their actions speak pretty loudly. But it is nice to have some confirmation from the inside.

There has got to be some way to make it safe or palatable for someone who works for the MSM to come out with the truth, a story like the one above, on the record, would blow this race wide open.

    3. Joe says:

Howard Beale (Peter Finch) in the 1976 film Network said that the news media can make or break a president or pope. I don’t know about the latter, but they have shown they’re capable of the former. They helped elect Bill Clinton in 1992, while holding a virtual vigil for the GHW Bush presidency. This e-mail only confirms what many of us have known all along: that the mainstream media are liberal, and go to bat for liberal candidates and causes. It is especially transparent in the case of Obama. The tragedy is, it might prove succesful.

Call me a dreamer, but I ask that those of us who read about these alarming acts going on around the Obama campaign, try to find some peace that no good can come to this. We must be committed to spread the word, but at the same time, refuse to feel defeated. Such beliefs do not serve our cause, such negativity hinders our efforts. Lean more on the goodness and humility of McCain and less on the deceit and manipulation of Obama campaign. Fight the good fight.

    5. Problem is the first one to come out publicly is committing career suicide.

That would have been Bernard Goldberg (author of “Bias”), who was finished in the MSM after refusing to toe the left-liberal line.

      Great book, btw .

    6. Beachbabe NC says:

      morality
n 1: concern with the distinction between good and evil or right
and wrong; right or good conduct [ant: immorality]
2: motivation based on ideas of right and wrong [syn: ethical
      motive, ethics, morals

Does anyone in the USA have this anymore? Does anyone in the press? I find it rather disturbing that this can go on and it just be swept underneath the carpet. Maybe I need to go back to the mushroom I came from and just live my life in Italy in the mountains where I can see the sea below. Eat good food and drink great wine. Anyone wanna come?

Unfortunately, one of the few newspapers that actually does journalism, the New York Sun, published its final issue today.

From the Sun’s own description of their ideals, you know they weren’t in the tank for Obama:

It has opposed indecency and rascality, public and private. It has fought Populism, Socialism, Communism, government extravagance, the encroachments of bureaucracy and that form of governmental paternalism which eats into the marrow of private initiative and industry.

Remember, the Sun was the first paper to print Governor Palin’s planned speech to the anti-Iran protest at the UN. And they put it on the front page. They’ll be missed. :(

    8. How do we get the truth out about Obama?

We could write letters to the editor, but these media outlets would squash it.

    9. DaddysDarlin says:

We understood when Hillary was being mistreated by the MSM that they were and still are in the tank for Obama. Between the MSM and the DNC the American people didn’t stand a chance at having their votes counted and voices heard.
If that is what these people deem as impartial reporting well, they aren’t even fooling themselves anymore.
For some reason all these people are supporting someone they know not to be qualified, but why? Why would you support someone you know has cheated to get what he wanted? Why would you support voter fraud?
I can only speculate and the answer scares the hell out of me.
We need some brave reporter to stand up and say enough is enough, we must report the truth, it is our duty to report the truth and do just that.
I only hope that there are enough of us disenfranchised democrats and enough republicans to vote John McCain into office and I don’t have to worry about the fate of my country in the hands of Obama.

    10. Lorica says:

Why would you support someone you know has cheated to get what he wanted?

Simple, the drive by media knows they can manipulate Barry into doing anything they want. The man-child thinks that they are his friends, they are not, they are only interested in one thing, and that is controlling this country thru their horribly inaccurate news stories.

Look at Katrina reporting. How many people died there because of the violence and the actions of those who ignored the evacuation order?? I heard estimates into the 1000s in the Superdome alone, when FEMA finally felt safe enough to go there, they only brought about 600 body bags hoping that would be enough. Surprise surprise surpise, they only needed 6 and 2 of the people were dragged in after they had drowned to death. It was the drive bys that created the aftermath of Katrina, but yet they take no responsibility. – Lorica
