Tuesday/Wednesday open thread

I’d like to take a moment to express my disappointment over the fact that the delivery of the Dell Mini that I ordered two weeks ago has been delayed a week, presumably due to popular demand :((

As a pick-me-up, for your listening/viewing entertainment … a blast from the past:

LOL. I remember my older sister having the biggest crush on Barry Gibb. (Shh! Don’t tell her I told you that! :D )

Update: Oops, almost forgot to post a reminder about my tip jar. Muchas gracias to all who have contributed! I’m inching closer to what I need to pay for hosting for the next 12 months and a new site design. I still need about $200 to make it happen. You know, $10 or $20 each from just a few contributors can make a difference and could add up quick to help me meet that goal :)

Ohhhh the horror, the hair the sans-a-belt slacks, I am reliving high school and I just want to say hello to the business end of a Glock. :o) Promise me Dear that there will be no Gibb music at our reception… Please. Or I will be outta there faster than a caveman in a Geico commercial. =)) – Lorica

  2. So I take it that a 70s-themed wedding is out of the question, Lorica? ;)

  3. Oooh, how cool! (The laptop, not Barry Gibb. >:p ) Are you getting that with XP or Ubuntu? I’m in the market for a new laptop, but not with Vista if I can avoid it.

  4. XP – though I’ve heard some pretty good things about Ubuntu. The fact that the Mini doesn’t have Vista was a big plus for me. Wish it had more memory, tho.

  5. I was all set to buy a Dell Ubuntu machine, but then discovered there’s no linux version of a program I have to have (Final Draft). Argh. :((

So, after a lifetime of DOS/Windows, I’m seriously looking at a Mac. :">

I was thinking something along a grander scale. Perhaps in the ball room of a cruise ship. Or on the beach in the Florida Keys. Then a honeymoon at Pale Hall in Wales. Just for a week, while we tour castles in there. – Lorica :x

Acer Aspire One is essentially the same unit with a little less memory, Win XP, and comes in white as well as deep Navy blue. And sells for $349.95. But it, too, is so much in demand that as soon as it hits the shelves, it’s gone, and retailers currently are demanding, and getting, a $150 “premium” for it (e.g., $499.95. If you’re not in a huge hurry, wait and Best Buy will again be selling it for $349.95.
