“Yes we can – make it to the promised land”

For your evening enjoyment, here’s a video that was discovered on YouTube of former Culture Clubber and now serial petty criminal Boy George singing a tribute to Barack Obama on The Alan Titchmarsh Show (UK) last September:

Here’s the “official” video, which is even more bizarre.

The lyrics:

there’s no time
for indeference
dont you know
how truly blessed you are?
mmm… yeah…

mother’s tears fall
when you hurt yourself
while others wait
to watch you fall apart

please forgive these
crimes against myself
and I’ll forgive your
lack of faith..

yes we can!
make it to the promise land
yes we can
I know we can
yes we can

those you take
into your confidence
can you trust them…
trust them with your heart?

no one knows you
like you know yourself
you’re in control right now
but you might go to far

oh yeah, I say
please forgive these
crimes against myself
and I’ll forgive your
lack of faith..

yes we can!
make it to the promise land
yes we can
I know we can

yes we can
make it to the promise land
yes we can
I know we can…
yes we can!

yes we can-yes we can-
yes we can…

yes we can-I know we can
make it to the promise land…

What’s Boy George up to these days? Preparing to spend 15 months in the slammer for tying a male escort to a wall against his will and beating him with a metal chain.

I don’t know, Sister. Some of the lyrics seem a bit too close to the situation with the President-Elect. To wit:

    “those you take
    into your confidence
    can you trust them…
    trust them with your heart?”

Perhaps Boy George used “your heart” because “taxpayer’s hard-earned money” had too many syllables.

The following verse is just too ominous (I added a little background verse for a few conservative ladies in red dresses):

    “no one knows you
    (truth is a distraction)
    like you know yourself
    (you invented yourself)
    you’re in control right now
    (Your Majesty Barrack)
but you might go too far
    (term limits at an end?)
