It’s the Iggles versus the Cats today at BOA Stadium here in Charlotte on the first Sunday of regular season football this season. I confess I have paid very little attention to the off-/pre-season football talk but nevertheless am hopeful that the Panthers have put their embarassing playoff loss to the Cardinals last season behind them, will move forward from their disappointing pre-season (0-4), and will have a good season.
Panthers.com has a good round-up on “what to watch for” in their season opener. One interesting tidbit about today’s game: former Falcon’s QB Michael Vick, who was released from federal custody in July after serving 23 months (the last two months were served in home confinement) for admitting his role in running a dogfighting/gambling ring, will be with his new team – the Eagles – today in their away game versus Carolina. He will not be allowed on the sidelines, and will not be reinstated to play regular season football until game 3.
Game time is 1 pm ET on Fox.
Update: The Panthers stunk up the joint today, losing 38-10.

Go Panthers!
There’s a site that’s pledged to donate 5 bags of dog food to a shelter for stray dogs for every time Vick is sacked. So, starting with game 3…
Go defense!
Good Grief ST, what the heck is happening? I kept re-assuring panthers fans that 0-4 is meaningless because the Lions went 4-0 last preseason. 31-10 in the second? Wow.
It is a painful day to be a Panthers fan. I didn’t think it could get any worse than that Cardinals game
Four turnovers by Delhomme, last I heard.
I am sorry Dear
I was hoping for a good game against the Eagles. – Lorica
Ouch, sorry ST.
At least the Vikings are off to a good start this year
Yeah, Sis, I hear ya…I started Warner in my fantasy league, and had Romo on the bench :/ What a shocker that game turned out to be.
On the bright side, I got Adrian Peterson, so I won my match up for this week
Ouch. Why do I get the feeling I should’ve have put pressure on the Panthers by making them a wild-card pick?
Oh well, there’s just three words to say – Go Pack GO!
I heard a rumor that Delahome is benched. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will find a good replacement. – Lorica
On the other hand, Niners-Cards was a pleasant surprise for me.
Hey Sister, it’s just the first game….and I’m from the Philly area. I was attending our church picnic and didn’t watch the game. I am still not at ease with the Vick deal, but if he did his time and is trying to refocus on football and will not go near another dog, I will have to be satisfied with that.
Ummm…yeah!
I am from Philly; I’m allowed.
