Eagles at the Panthers: Are you ready for some football? (UPDATE: PANTHERS LOSE 38-10)

Panthers logoIt’s the Iggles versus the Cats today at BOA Stadium here in Charlotte on the first Sunday of regular season football this season. I confess I have paid very little attention to the off-/pre-season football talk but nevertheless am hopeful that the Panthers have put their embarassing playoff loss to the Cardinals last season behind them, will move forward from their disappointing pre-season (0-4), and will have a good season.

Panthers.com has a good round-up on “what to watch for” in their season opener. One interesting tidbit about today’s game: former Falcon’s QB Michael Vick, who was released from federal custody in July after serving 23 months (the last two months were served in home confinement) for admitting his role in running a dogfighting/gambling ring, will be with his new team – the Eagles – today in their away game versus Carolina. He will not be allowed on the sidelines, and will not be reinstated to play regular season football until game 3.

Game time is 1 pm ET on Fox.

Update: The Panthers stunk up the joint today, losing 38-10.
