Falcons at the Panthers (UPDATE: PANTHERS WIN 28-19)

Panthers logoIt’s a beautiful day for football here in Charlotte – a perfect day, in fact, for a miraculous win by the 3-5 Panthers over the visiting division rivals the 5-3 Falcons. Do they have what it takes to go the distance? The season so far for the Cats has been decidedly mixed on that front. All I can do is hope that they win. I won’t predict that they will – we all know how that usually turns out!

Game time is 1 PM ET and it will be shown on Fox.

Update: The Panthers played a pretty impressive game today, winning 28-19.

Just saw the Panthers score a touchdown on a Fox update. Keep it up, Cats!

Meanwhile, my team is off this weekend, so we can’t lose! :"> Ok, ok, we won last Thursday, but scoring only 10 points against a terrible Bears team is still embarrasing. We really need to draft for the O-line during the offseason.

ST, you’re turning me into a Panthers fan. But Congrats on a great win!

Anthony, the first thing any team should do every season is draft for the O- and D- lines because that’s the first contact and determines more than anything else what’s going to happen on any given play.

Therefore, after 55 years of observation, it is my humble opinion that, unless a player’s name is Clark Kent and he has a known alias as “Superman”, no team will ever pick an O-lineman first simply because they don’t carry the star status that a QB or RB does, which brings in fans and enhances revenue. It only makes sense to the nimrods who pick their choices because they can’t see beyond the “star” to see what makes him a star.

Which begs the question: is a very good QB worth wasting because he doesn’t have protection, or would he become a star quicker if he did have protection? Same for a good RB.

My team didn’t lose either!! The Giants had a bye, too!!:d

Still, the way the Giants have been playing it’s no wonder they didn’t find a way to lose this week!!!

Congrats to the Panthers, good win!!!!

Carlos, I’m with you. Everything starts on the O- and D-lines. You (usually) need a great QB to win championships (Dilfer being an exception), but you need the lines to keep him from being killed before you get there.

Congratz not too many chances to say that this year
