Obama to Oprah: I’d rate my first year as a B+

Snort-worthy, via the NY Daily News:

President Obama told Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night he gives himself a “good, solid B-plus” for his first 11 months in the Oval Office.

On what was billed as Oprah’s “White House Christmas Special,” Obama credited his administration with getting the economy on track, winding down the Iraq war and making the right call for a temporary surge in Afghanistan.

He also said America has “reset” its prestige in the world and made progress toward halting development of nuclear weapons in Iran and North Korea.

Passage of health care reform would boost his grade to an A-, he said. Until Americans get back to work, he said, “I can’t give myself the grade I’d like.”

Gateway Pundit wonders what kind of grading scale the President is operating off of:

After all… Obama and Democrats only tripled the national deficit in less than one year.

[…]

Obama increased the national debt to $12 Trillion.

And he nearly doubled the unemployment rate since the Bush years with his failed Stimulus Plan.

If his goal was to destroy the US economy then a B+ would fit.

And as JammieWearingFool correctly points out, Obama is nowhere near “halting progress” on North Korea’s and Iran’s respective nuke ambitions.

What with Obama’s tanking approval ratings, and the major slippage in support for him amongst Independents, I’d say our highly narcissistic President is sailing up Denial River on the issue of his first year “grade.” Then again, he’s probably using a very weighted scale in which to grade himself on, kinda like my chemistry teacher in high school did (+30) when she realized over half the class had done poorly on the first semester chemistry exam.

Either that, or he’s “massaging the numbers” a la ClimateGate. Hey, whatever makes him feel better, I guess.
