Oh man, you have got to love this! (via ST reader GWR):
The 212 member Cambridge Police Patrol Officers Association voted to endorse State Senator Scott Brown for United States Senator in next Tuesday’s election against Attorney General Martha Coakley. CPSOA’s President released the following letter today:
All Members,
Members of our Association have inquired and requested that we endorse Scott Brown in the upcoming election against Martha Coakley. Ms. Coakley along with some of her campaign workers have talked publicly about how her husband is a retired Cambridge Police Officer, giving appearances that she is being endorsed by the Cambridge Police. This may be an innocent insinuation but most do take this as our giving her our support and endorsement. Yesterday, the CPPOA Executive Board voted to endorse State Senator Scott Brown in the upcoming election for US Senate. In an 11 to 2 vote, the Executive Board voted overwhelmingly in favor of the endorsement. We do not endorse anyone who advocates changes in the health care that take away any bargaining rights or increases our cost along with our contributions. Senator Brown does not support the Comprehensive Healthcare Reform Bill and promises to be the 41st vote to ensure its defeat. The current leadership at the state house, as we all know and have seen over the past two years, have an agenda to dismantle all of our hard earned bargained benefits and they will continue to dismantle these until there is a complete change from the top down. Martha Coakley is part of this Massachusetts leadership and she will continue with this agenda, only now it will be at the capital level and we need to stop it. So today, we the members of the Cambridge Police Patrol Officers Association endorse Scott Brown for the senate seat vacated by Senator Kennedy.
Fraternally,
Stephen Killion

What makes this a doubly hard hit for Coakley? Her husband is a retired Cambridge police officer. This is one endorsement she didn’t get that had to really sting. Maybe if she’d just held a Beer Summit in the last couple of weeks …
As always, you can read the very latest here, including news on recent internal and external polling the looks promising for Brown, some polling that doesn’t, and the hilarious audio of Coakley calling Red Sox great Curt Schilling a … Yankees fan:
LOL ![]()
One more thing: Twitter is abuzz today with the unconfirmed rumor that Joe Lieberman might be endorsing Brown before all is said and done. For what it’s worth …
Update – 10:52 AM: Watch this awesome video about the Brown/Coakley race here. Excellent! Via ST reader Anthony.

I don’t think even Joe Biden could keep up with her track record of blunders.

Now for the Coakley Daily Gaffe for Saturday: she played off the UPS slogan in a new attack ad showing Scott Brown dressed up as a UPS driver. The company’s legal department immediately demanded that the Democrats withdraw the ad because of trademark infringement.

A state attorney general who doesn’t understand the concept of trademark protection. If she loses this election, she’d be perfect for Obama’s cabinet.
In Cambridge, you can still sometimes see faded bumper stickers on properly “patina-ed” Volvos (it’s all part of being pretentiously unpretentious that Cambridge excels at) that say “Run Jesse Run” and “Jesse Jackson for President”.
When Ed Meese was being confirmed through the Senate during the Reagan years, he was asked by Ted Kennedy whether he had ever visited a communist country. Meese replied: “No, but I’ve been to Cambridge MA.”
This endorsement is very embarrassing for Coakley. Cambridge is a nutty left-wing colony that might even be further left than Coakley. Yet she can’t get the police endorsement even with her husband being a veteran of that very police force.:
Someone should ask her husband if even he endorses his wife for Senate. Would it be any worse for her if he said no? Or worse, “no comment”?

I’m so glad the Cambridge officers have come out against Coakley. Many politicians court the police union vote then turn their backs on the officers. This endorsement couldn’t have come at a better time.
That and after Mr. Obama’s inappropriate comments that Cambridge officers had acted ‘stupidly’ and did not follow procedure sent the message to the community that he’s not pro law enforcement and was going to be a political liability at some point. This is it; that’s what he gets for disrespecting police. Bravo brothers/sisters.
GWR & ST You are both too funny.

ST says:
True, but not paying taxes is an especially strong qualification for SecTreas – in this administration.
Not knowing the law at all would make Coakley a prime candidate for Attorney General, should Holder leave that office.
And if Napolitano is thrown under the bus for botching the DHS job, maybe Bill Ayers will get the job. He has similarly strong credentials for fighting terrorists (who are not in Afghanistan, dontcha know).
This kind of reminds me of “Return of the Jedi” …. in a way. And I’m thinking you’ll know which political party went over to the Dark Side and who Darth Vader is. May the Force be with the police force.
The saddest thing is that these idiots in Mass kept electing a drunken murder to the senate. Electing Coakley would be a step toward sanity by comparison.
Kinda like a massive heart attack will be better than cancer, right, Chris?
It may be easy to ignore the cries of the “Tea Bag” bunch, but when “true blue” MA goes for a Republican to replace old Teddy, ignoring them will not be an option. The only mistake that the Democrats have not made that would make this pending defeat even more complete is if they had named the ObamaCare bill after Teddy. So far though, the ObamaCare bill and the Senate special election have acted as a near perfect stand in for a Ted Kennedy memorial in the proportions and flavor of that given to Paul WellStone.
I will throw myself my own little victory party on his behalf and as a sign of real ‘hope’ for this nation if he wins up there of all places!
I have hope in the American People. They will always side with liberty.
I think Hopey and Change misread us.
I have to keep reminding myself that this is MA .. not PA, MN, OH or some other battleground state. This is MA .. the state that went for McGovern went Nixon crushed him in 49 other states.
I wouldn’t want to be a Democrat now .. even in a “safe” seat.
Nina, I know Hopey-Changy misread the American people, but that has little to do with all the ACORN/union/SEIU/NEA/AFSME voters that will suddenly appear in MA and swing the election. That, of course, will include the homeless, felon and graveyard votes.
I’m just real sure the election will be as honest as any Huey Long was involved in many decades ago is Lousy-ana. Where jackasses gain a strong foothold, honesty disappears, and the jackasses have driven stupidity in MA for decades, too.
But honesty is all relative, don’tcha know.
