Yes, the Pentagon shooter was a far left nutcase

Posted by: ST on March 5, 2010 at 11:58 am

Not that I really care one way or the other about J. Patrick Bedell’s political persuasion, but since the left and MSM (but I repeat myself) both have a nasty, dishonest habit of painting every violent “anti-government” act as one being perpetrated by “reich wingers”, the truth must be told. And Patterico does so beautifully here.

Thankfully, both the officers Bedell (who is now dead from gunshot wounds to the head) shot have been treated and released from the hospital.

    Oh, its already started, S.T.

John Patrick Bedell: Did right-wing extremism lead to shooting?

Authorities have identified John Patrick Bedell as the gunman in the Pentagon shooting. He appears to have been a right-wing extremist with virulent antigovernment feelings.

    So sad.

  2. Carlos says:

Just like with the rest of the English language, the moonbats have hijacked any attack on government as an attack on themselves (since they love government, the bigger the better, so much), so by definition anyone who attacks the government is a right-wing nutcase extremist.

No matter what the facts say.

  3. bill glass says:

…this particular nutball was a bad shot – probably committed suicide by cop ( via return fire )…

  4. Lorica says:

How incredibly convienent for the MSM, that this guy can be forced into their template. I wish there were a way to sue these guys for malpractice. This is a constitutionally protected business and yet they feel they have the freedom to lie to people. Ben Franklin is rolling over in his grave. – Lorica

  5. Tex says:

If he came from California and hated the military, no way he could have been a “right winger”. And especially after reading the transcripts of some of his postings this afternoon, his lunatic ravings sound very similar to that of so many Liberals during the Bush administration as they constantly came up with right wing conspiracy theories and accused Bush of “trampling on the Constitution”.

And the coup de grace that pretty much proves not only was he a nutjob, but a typical California Liberal nutjob, was the following quote from one of his 2006 podcasts:

“Given my belief that cannabis prohibition is the least defensible and most unjust aspect of the prohibitionist regime existing throughout the world today, I decided in March 2006 to cultivate cannabis in full view of the world.”

    I rest my case.

  6. your mama says:

Why does this not surprise me,who is going to hold the mostly stupid media’s feet to the fire and make them state the true facts, this is getting beyond ridiculous!

  7. mike191 says:

Our vaunted “fourth estate” is dead.To twist this into a “radical rightwinger” is Bagdad Bob territory.

  8. puffpiece says:

It is so reassuring that ‘facts’ and ‘truth’ matter to the MSM. And that they still work hard to research the stories they print or televise. But mostly I’m glad I still pay no attention to them.:)>-

  9. Sefton says:

He was obviously a tech-head, given the different readings I did last night (his Amazon profile was pretty nerdy-whiz kid as far as books on his “wish list” up until just recently, when he added the Bush government conspiracy books and such). I watched his video on YouTube also (trying to sell his investment marketing idea). Socio-pathic pre-Riddler (Batman) kinda odd. The kind of person who looks like he could snap at any time.
Thank God the cops are okay.

  10. Ozwitch says:

According to Michelle Malkin the guy was a Registered Democrat. Watch the silence descend.

  11. Ozwitch – absolutely!

  12. Carlos says:

We know very little about the guy’s background because there’s little on it available.

That in itself should speak volumes, because if he really was a rightwing nut case it would be splashed all over the MSM, probably in triplicate.

One of the MSM’s finest probably figured the guy had a sister or little girl friend when growing up, was invited to a “pretend tea party” once where she forced him to pretend to drink tea daintily, and therefore is a modern day tea partier.

‘Bout the only way I can figure he ever got to one.

  13. Tom TB says:

In the history of the Pentagon, the ONLY people that ever attacked it have been LEFT wing radicals like the the Youth International Party (think Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin), the group “Weather Underground” founded by Obama supporters Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn), and the Muslim high-jackers on 9/11.

  14. Kate says:

Don’t forget the Berrigan Brothers – the radical anti-war priests who continually got arrested for trespassing on military reservations and destroying government property. All done in God’s name, of course.

Yes, the silence is deafening..even now as we find out the guy was an unstable, pot-smoking, anti-government LIBERAL..by his own words.

If this was a “right wing nutcase” his FB page would be all over the place!

This is the reason why our newspapers and other MSM outlets are getting shut down and out polled by FOX news and the like….no wonder they hate them so!

  15. Carlos says:

You could knock the MSM (print, radio and TV) upside the head with a 2 x 4 and they still wouldn’t be able to figure out why people don’t trust them anymore.

As a matter of fact, the ratings continually do, and they still can’t.

I wonder if they will before our glorious leader talks the sewer rats of Congress into taking them over a la GM.

  16. Paul says:

The lunatic fringe is dangerous whether it is the Left or the Right. Let’s face it there are some crazies at both ends of the spectrum that should not be encouraged to commit violent acts, but then do they need a reason ?

  17. Carlos says:

The problem here isn’t that there’s a lunatic fringe on both sides, Paul. The problem is that the MSM automatically assigns every lunatic act to the conservatives (assuming one has to be part of the lunatic fringe just to be a conservative), then buries the truth about those who happen to be of the left lunatic fringe (which, to some, is anyone left of John Boehner). It’s a matter of the MSM being honest, and it isn’t, not any more than El Presidente himself.

And for quite some time now, neither has had any credibility at all.
