Pelosi: Let’s pass the HCR bill – so you can find out what’s in it

Quote of the day (via Rob Port):

“You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.

“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.” – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, speaking at the 2010 Legislative Conference for National Association of Counties, 3/9/10

  1. NC Cop says:

I think what she meant to say was:

“We need to pass the health care bill so I can find out whats in it.”

  2. John A says:

Yeah, it has to be passed before we are allowed to find out what is in it because that way you can put in whatever you want and, like the communications tax to pay for the Spanish-American War, it will take a century to do anything about it.

Oh, and preventive care? Been there, and the HMOs that are still with us got away from there and redesigned their operation. Sounds like a good idea – but preventing a fender-bender by telling everyone that the millions of tons of goods – and people – moved every day ought to be done by hand as the exercise is healthy, well…

  3. Gregory says:

Perhaps she could have said; “Do you want a blindfold, or do you want to see it coming?”
    Either way….it’s gonna hurt…A LOT!!!!

  4. Sefton says:

Do members of Congress ever have to go through psychological evaluations?
I’m serious, I think this woman is out to lunch.

  5. Carlos says:

If she had her way, all legislation would be dealt with that way. As a matter of fact, all elections would be dealt with in a similar fashion, with the jackasses counting the ballots in every election from dogcatcher to prez.

She is, very seriously, a danger not only to herself but to the country.

The question isn’t how the Bay area could be dumb enough to elect her, but how could they be so incredibly stupid as to re-elect her numerous times? They may deserve her, but the rest of the country doesn’t.

  6. Baklava says:

hmmmm. Must be something in the San Francisco water…

  7. Jay Stevens says:

Senate Dems to House Dems, “Pass our bill. We can go back later and fix it.”

Would you buy a house from a contractor who told you, “Buy the house. We can always fix what’s wrong later.”?

  8. Kate says:

Carols…you and I both know how and why she is still in power….that’s what the Bay area is all about. People are trained to pull the democratic lever since childhood. Serious discussion of any opposing viewpoints are severely mocked and denigrated.

But, really, does she even listen to what she says? I heard this last night and nearly fell off my chair! I think it was a “Marie Antoinette” moment…..so off with her head!

  9. Paul says:

Obama and Pelosi are almost frantic at this point. What is Pelosi on ?

  10. Lorica says:

Back here in farm country, a farmer doesn’t plant his seed unless he knows what he is planting. We are just podunks, and not Ivy league educated, but most of the farmers I know, would run rings around this woman. November can’t get here soon enough for me. – Lorica

  11. Jo says:

She has a bright future playing the psychopathic mother figure in movies where young children are murdered and stuffed in various unfinished walls in various large houses with lots of long, murky hallways.

Does anyone else have to run puke every time they see her simpering, cutesy-pie, stammering face in front of every television camera in America? This woman is pure evil; a pure masochistic control freak. I am sick of her and her ilk. What does it take for California to wake up and smell the coffee????????

  12. Carlos says:

Well, ya see, Jo, that’s the problem. Californians drink espressos, not coffee. That way they get their minds to wrap around the concept of their own utter superiority to anything else in the universe (with the possible exception of the messiah, but that’s irrelevant right now) and can hold those feelings for longer than the millisecond usually reserved for their own victimhood.

And Pelousy plays on those feelings (after all, feelings are what count, not real thoughts) to the max.

  13. Jerry says:

To quote Ben Stein: “Pelosi is a true madwoman.” Apparently she fits right in with the rest of the crew. Oops, I have to run to talk on the big white telephone. Sorry……..

  14. Tony Andrews says:

Speaker Pelosi says, “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”..

WAIT.. isn’t this THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF TRANSPARENCY? So, DID Obama LIE or is this HER SCREW UP AGAIN? Obama said the bills would be posted 24-36 HRS before VOTING.!!!!!! They can’t even get their story straight with each other..
    PELOSI NEEDS TO GO HOME!!
