NJ teacher’s union prays for Chris Christie’s death

NorthJersey.com reports (via @jimgeraghty):

Bergen County representatives of the state teachers union have ratcheted up the campaign against Governor Christie’s agenda in a fiery memo that encourages members to “get some dirt” and “go public,” and adds the education commissioner to the “attack list.”

But it’s the memo’s closing “prayer” that is sure to ignite controversy:

“Dear Lord … this year you have taken away my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Farrah Fawcett, my favorite singer, Michael Jackson, and my favorite salesman, Billy Mays. … I just wanted to let you know that Chris Christie is my favorite governor.

The memo, sent to locals in the county earlier this week and obtained by The Record on Thursday, is signed by New Jersey Education Association field representatives, including Joe Coppola, president of the Bergen County Education Association.

Coppola said the “prayer” was a joke and was never meant to be made public.

“Obviously, it’s inappropriate,” he said. “I would never wish anybody dead.”

[...]

The “prayer” has also been posted by fans a number of times on the Facebook page of New Jersey Teachers United Against Governor Chris Christie’s Pay Freeze, a group that now has nearly 67,000 followers. The site contains other vitriolic and profane postings as well.

The union e-mail blast details local initiatives in the next two months, including rallies, advertisements, a no-confidence vote in Christie and letter-writing campaigns. It was sent to locals in the county that represent more than 17,000 teachers and support staff.

What was that the demagoguing Democrats and MSM have been saying again about the hostile post-healthcare reform passage rhetoric and threats “only” coming from the right?

Don’t expect this news report to make national headlines, though. It doesn’t fit the “violent right wingers are out to get us!!” narrative. Besides, isn’t this sort of how Democrat NJ politicos/associates are anyway? ;)

Truly sick … but totally not surprising.

The press will turn blue and pass out before they stop holding their noses for this stinky business. SEIU thugs and now teachers unions who are not worried about teaching students, but deposing a governor. What a lesson for the kids to learn! These teachers are more worried about pay scale, tenure and pension benefits. Shame on them!

Coppola said the “prayer” was a joke and was never meant to be made public.

I used to live in Bergen County, N.J. and cannot begin to tell you how happy I am that I got out of there before indoctrination could take place.

So, now Christie has the teachers in his pocket.
Any complaints, too bad .. he is their “favorite governor.”

  5. Anthony says:

Just yesterday a Righty acquaintance sent me that same prayer, but with Obama’s name in place of Christie’s. At least classlessness is bipartisan. 8-|

It’s always ok to say something about a Republican. We’re told to lighten up if we’re offended. If it’s said about a Demoncrat then it’s naturally a terroristic threat to be taken seriously.

What’s being asked of the teachers unions is a mere pittance, yet they still stand in defiance. They have had this state and this country in a chokehold for far too long. They better watch it, because the backlash could get very ugly for them. They’d be better off cooperating, but their sense of entitlement won’t allow them to. Disgraceful. And by the way, half of them suck at their job. As an aide in multiple schools, as well as a parent of 3 school-age kids, I know firsthand. There are some good ones out there but tenure has assurred us that the lowest performers aren’t going anywhere. Sad. Time for a change.

Except that you did, clown. You’re just sorry it leaked out and went public, jerk.

  9. Publius says:

It must be fake, liberal teachers don’t believe in God so who would they be praying to?:)

  10. Carlos says:

Aw, you dang TEA partiers are all the same. You’re homophobic, you’re violent, you’re racist, and you can’t stand the thought that the press caught you with your violence exposed when it ran the picture of the man screaming and holding the “KILL BUSH” sign.

Oh, wait, that’s the wrong time, ’cause it was OK to thrust hate toward the government and president just a couple of years ago, but now one tenth of what was advocated by wingnuts just two years ago is racist, violent, homophobic, etc.

I must have missed something in the peaceful transition.

Right now we should say a prayer for all the kid that are being educated by these union loving teachers…

Of course, this leader of the teachers union probably hasn’t stepped foot in a classroom in years…he’s too busy wheeling and dealing for the rank and file.
