The face of progressivism: Students take part in “I Have Sex” video

The video and accompanying commentary pretty much speak for themselves:

Posted below the video:

A message from students at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. They write:

In order to “balance the budget” the House of Representatives recently announced the intention to strip all federal funding to Planned Parenthood. This is unacceptable. It’s time to face reality: many young people have sex, and need to know how to stay safe and healthy. Even those who have chosen to wait still need to know how to be safe and healthy when begin their sexual activity. This extreme ideological measure threatens our youth’s ability to choose their own future.

In many parts of America, Planned Parenthood is the only place young people can go to learn about safe sex, access contraceptives, or have a simple question about “down there” answered.

With all the rhetoric centering on “government waste,” Congress’s refusal to close multi-billion dollar corporate tax loopholes and instead eliminate essential, multi-million dollar sexual health programs is beyond hypocritical.

We are starting a student movement to make sure elected leaders know: Americans have sex, and we stand with Planned Parenthood.

Their parents must be so proud.

  1. Matt McDole says:

Masses of hormonal teenagers holding signs and giggling while they say they have sex is pretty unimpressive. The suggested threat (or accomplishment?) that they vote is nearly as unimpressive.

It’s a fun activity for a bunch of bored college students, not anything to be taken any more seriously than the “Coffee Party” or Eric Byler.

  2. ShiftyJ says:

That may well have been more idiotic than that creepy anit-Palin moma bear commerical that they did.

  3. LC Gregory says:

    “I Have Sex.”

Translation: “I take risks, and expect you to indemnify them.”

  4. Severian says:

Great! Now I know who to hit on at the next campus mixer!

  5. ST says:

    LOL, Sev! ;)

  6. Old Goat says:

Wait… I thought the public education system has invested heavily in providing sex education classes, including putting condoms on bananas, in order to teach these children about safe sex. Now these kids, in the bastion of liberal education are saying that the only place some people have to go to for safe sex information is Planned Parenthood?

If that’s the case, then cuts need to be made to the school systems that aren’t doing their job.

Funny, I don’t recall needing all that much education about sex to participate, and while doing so safely. Must be “old school” where we actually were taught to use our brains.

  7. ST says:

    Old Goat – well said!

  8. Carlos says:

Old Goat, ya beat me to it. While reading this crap all I could think about was that at least 20% of the average government school class time is spent learning how to prevent becoming pregnant from cucumbers and all the wondrous joys and benefits of homosexuality.

And old school? Nowadays they don’t want the kids to use any part of their anatomies except what’s between the legs. To do so might engender actual thought, discussion, and the discovery that their instructors don’t know diddly about whatever subject they’re “teaching.”

  9. Lorica says:

Really?!?!? Isn’t it getting abit tiresome EVERY freakin’ time a lib wants to justify their wasteful spending the bring up tax breaks for “big oil”??? Yes big oil gets tax breaks but I will wager they also pay a WHOLE tanker full more in taxes than almost any other major corporation on the planet. How many of those tax breaks are do to research and development, or taxes paid or fees paid. These people are a joke and seem very desperate.

Also do they realize the people they are creating. If your life revolves around sex, like so many teenagers already dealing with hormones, your life is eventually going to become quite miserable. Then they ponder teenage suicide. – Lorica

  10. Old Goat says:

Carlos, sadly (though I did chuckle) its true that the liberals seem to think that all aspects of life are to fulfill their sexuality.

I think you are right about it being used as a distraction. I just don’t understand why they are so overly hung up on sex.

In past ages, their preponderance of fixation on sex would have had them committed. Now they think they are liberated. Or maybe inebriated.

  11. Tom TB says:

So everyone who lived before Margaret Sanger was an evil Auto-didact since they learned about sex without a big government tax-payer funded program???

  12. Carlos says:

Not to get all religious on anyone, but Old Goat, I’ll take the freedom of my chains as a Christian any day to the wretched slavery of being chained to the “free sex” movement, or any other activity libs see as being set free from the chains of belief.

  13. Wayne says:

Maybe the tax payers should be having the sex while these students are studying. Instead the rest of us are working over-time so they can get free education and have babies and AIDS and create stupid videos.
