#UnderstandingLiberals: Exhibit A on typical left wing word games

FacebookTwitterPrintFriendly

Spin Blvd and Truth AveI’ve talked before about the (unfortunately) tried and true left wing tactic of word games, and how they redefine words down to where they don’t mean anything. Like racism, which now means “anytime a white conservative disagrees with a black liberal.” And when they’re not redefining words, they are changing them altogether. Example: they don’t want you to use “pro-abortion” when describing them. They want you to use the term “pro-choice” (or, well they used to – more on that here), because they claim they are not “pro-abortion” but instead “pro-a woman’s right to choose” (cough cough). And when talking about abortion itself, they never want to focus on the unborn child and the gruesome procedures used to take its life, but instead have successfully shifted the debate to being one about “women’s health.”

I said all that not to digress, but to lead up to an article pointed out to me by one of the “good” liberals out there who nevertheless has tired of the word games as well. He provided me this link to an article written by a “progressive” who believes 2013 should be the year certain terms are “retired” — because they don’t help advance the liberal “message.” The one below particularly stood out to me, but I hope you’ll read the whole thing.

3. Felon. Activists around the country are doing inspiring work to create a more fair, effective, and equitable criminal justice system. To speed that work along, we should stop using the word “felon,” which reduces the identity of people convicted of crimes to the worst thing they’ve ever done. Worse still is “felon disenfranchisement” (banning people with felony convictions from voting), which combines a negative word with an arcane one that means nothing to many people who might otherwise care about the issue. Instead of opposing “felon disenfranchisement,” for example, we should uphold the “voting rights” of “people with felony convictions,” “people emerging from prison,” or “people who’ve paid their debt to society.” Let’s also drop “ex-offender.” And, while we’re at it, let’s stop using the word “criminal” as a noun too, for the same reasons.

Wow. Incredible. And disgusting.

This is the militant left wing activist mindset in a nutshell, and we all need to be aware of it and be prepared to counter it. ALWAYS listen to what they say, and how they say it, and be prepared to counter it effectively. The definition of words and terms and how they are used are key in persuading or dissuading people from a particular idea or belief. Phrasing is everything, and if we’re going to bring more people over to “our side” we need to push back on their redefining tactics as often as possible.

UPDATE: #MSDNC host @Toure a 26 year-old ADULT when abortion “saved” his life

FacebookTwitterPrintFriendly

NOTE: I originally titled this post as Toure being a “26 year-old MAN” but changed it to “ADULT” after my friend Bill Hobbs re-emphasized the point that a real man would not have done to his child what he advocated.

ToureI wanted to follow up on the post I wrote this past weekend about how MSDNC’s Cycle host Toure came out of the closet – so to speak – on the issue of abortion by “explaining” how his “not the one” girlfriend having an abortion 15 years ago probably “saved” his life.  In the post, I had assumed Toure, from the way he was talking, was in his mid to late teens, at the very latest very early 20s when the “incident” happened.  I had to assume because when I Googled for the information, I couldn’t even find his Wiki page.

Very odd.

Anyway, I found out today. Toure wasn’t some immature high school kid or college party dude.   Not saying that would have excused the poor decisions he and his then-g/f made but it would have spoken to maturity levels – or lack thereof. Instead, he was a 26 year old ADULT MALE when he and his “not the one” girlfriend made the “mistake” they did by having sex without using protection, getting pregnant as a result.    He was born in March 1971, per his Wiki page, and that puts him at almost 42 years old.  15 years ago would put him at 26 years old when everything happened.

IOW, he was no spring chicken.  He was a grown man.  He damn well knew the birds and the bees at that point in his life and still decided to have unprotected sex, knowing what the consequences would be. So as a result of his (and his “not the one” girlfriend’s) selfish and careless disregard for personal responsibility as ADULTS, an innocent unborn child had to die.   This makes the moral bankruptcy of both Toure’s actions all those  years ago and his “bold statement” from this past Friday all the deeper.

Just thought you should know.

Aide to Egyptian President Morsi: The Holocaust was faked

**Posted by Phineas

Consider this to be another example in support of this post: Holocaust denial is antisemitism, it is Jew-hatred, and it is endemic at the highest levels of the Egyptian government:

To Celebrate Holocaust Remembrance Day two days ago,   Fathi Shihab-Eddim, a senior figure close to President Morsi who is now responsible for appointing the editors of all state-run Egyptian newspapers called the Holocaust a hoax cooked up by U.S. intelligence operatives and claimed the 6 million Jews who were killed by Nazis simply moved to the U.S.

“U.S. intelligence agencies in cooperation with their counterparts in allied nations during World War II created it [the Holocaust] to destroy the image of their opponents in Germany, and to justify war and massive destruction against military and civilian facilities of the Axis powers, and especially to hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the atomic bomb,” Shihab-Eddim said. “The myth of the Holocaust is an industry that America invented,”

Remember, it was the Obama administration’s deft deployment of “smart power” that helped bring to power a Muslim Brotherhood-controlled government in the largest nation in the Arab world. A government that drinks deeply from the well of Islamic antisemitism. Great job, guys!

Did an Iranian nuke facility go boom? I think so…

The key is found not in what governments are saying, so much, but in what they are doing, which in turn lends perspective to their words.

Background: A few days ago, a report appeared on World Net Daily that there had been a massive explosion at Fordow, one of Iran’s major nuclear facilities, where centrifuges enrich uranium to a level at which it could be used as a warhead on a missile. I ignored the story, largely because WND has as much credibility for news as Timothy Geithner does for economics.

Then again…

Lee Smith has weighed in on Israeli actions around the time of this possible event, and his analysis has me saying “Hmmm…”:

Over the weekend there was news of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet’s “intense” consultations. According to reports, Jerusalem has deployed two Iron Dome missile defense batteries to the north—one near the port city of Haifa, and another in the Galilee region—a move that Israeli spokesmen explain is only part of a regular, scheduled rotation all over the country. However, taken in tandem with Jerusalem’s public concerns that Bashar al-Assad’s beleaguered regime may itself use chemical weapons against Israel or transfer them to Hezbollah or that the arsenal may fall into the hands of Islamist rebels, the speculation is that the Iron Dome batteries have been moved to intercept Syrian missiles carrying chemical weapons.

However, there is no obvious reason why Assad is more likely to use or transfer those weapons now more than any other time during the last two years since the uprising began; or why the rebels are more likely now to appropriate them and divert resources from their existential war with the regime to tangle with Israel. Perhaps more to the point, the Iron Dome is not designed to intercept the kind of missiles that can carry chemical weapons payloads. The likelier scenario is that Israel is girding itself in the event that Hezbollah is called upon to retaliate for the Fordow operation, using the Iranian-supplied rockets and missiles that Iron Dome is designed to stop.

Add to this Iranian denials that anything happened (1), American doubts that anything happened (2), and the Israelis mostly keeping quiet (3), and the astute reader is left with one conclusion:

Something happened. Something big. And a good thing it is, too, for the Iranian leadership is far too dangerous to ever let have nuclear weapons.

And lest you think this is too big and too far away for the Israelis, bear in mind that they and we were also behind Stuxnet.

As I like to say in situations like these: “Oh, those wacky Jews!” (4)

(1) Of course they would. If you were them, would you admit your archenemy had just broken one of your favorite toys?
(2) Of course we would. Publicly. If we were involved, or if the Israelis warned us. If they didn’t involve us, which may be wise, then our doubts would serve to confuse Tehran.
(3) Of course they would. Not only does Israel rarely talk about intelligence operations, but, if this really happened, the last thing they want to do is rub Tehran’s nose in it and force them to retaliate.
(4) It’s the First Rule of Mideast Politics: “Do not [mess] with the Israelis!”

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Hillary & Obama laugh it up during CBS “lovefest”

The softball interview is here should you care to watch it. But this photo is all you really need to see to know how difficult the “questioning” was on 60 Minutes.

Obama and Clinton laugh

Screen capture via Newsbusters.

Newsbusters’ Kyle Drennan provides this report on NBC’s reaction (emphasis added by him):

Following the friendly chat President Obama and outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had with CBS’s Steve Kroft on Sunday’s 60 Minutes, NBC’s reporters could barely contain their glee over the duo getting along so well, with correspondent Peter Alexander proclaiming on Monday’s Today“There they were, side-by-side, at times chuckling together, it seemed even finishing one another’s sentences.” [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Alexander fawned over Obama and Clinton repeatedly patting each other on the back during the self-promotional interview: “The President said he simply wanted to thank Hillary Clinton for being what he called one of the finest secretaries of state we have ever had. But the mutual gushing did not end there….the bitter rivals turned partners showed just how far their relationship’s evolved. The President lavishing Clinton with praise for her discipline, stamina, and thoughtfulness.”

Following Alexander’s report, co-host Matt Lauer asked chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd if the dual television appearance amounted to an Obama endorsement of Clinton in 2016: “What did we watch last night? Did we watch a sitting president giving a warm personal embrace to an outgoing secretary of state or did we watch a sitting president passing the baton to a political ally now?”

Todd was skeptical of the notion: “This was more in the thank-you column.” However, he then portrayed Clinton as a savior of the Democratic Party by agreeing to be Obama’s secretary of state: “Had Hillary Clinton not taken his invitation, the possibility of a Democratic Party that was split in two….So this really was a thank you. Because getting her to come in and the fact that she was such a team player once she went in, this was really the President doing that.”

Scott Whitlock at NB notes ABC’s Good Morning America had the words “Lovefest!” displayed over their video clip from the  Steve Kroft interview, and they, like other MSM outlets, also fawned and gushed over how well Clinton and Obama got along.

Fox News political analyst/Democrat Kirsten Powers rightly calls what happened on 60 Minutes last night ” something you would expect from like, the state-run media”:

“It was really something you would expect from like, the state-run media. It was that kind of level of propaganda as far as I’m concerned. … I can understand maybe in agreeing to the interview, letting them have maybe one softball question in the beginning and then move on to more important things. This was a joke. Just not challenging basic things like the president claiming that Hillary’s been a great secretary of state in part because they have dismantled Al Qaeda. Now, I’m sorry, is anyone paying attention to what’s going on in North Africa? Why is the president not asked about Algeria, Mali, Libya? These are front and center in the news right now.

Amen.  Make sure you read her slam of Obama’s whining about Fox News here in a serious of must-read Tweets documented by Twitchy Team.

This, and it’s only the first month of his second term.  Sigh. Expect more pillow plumping for this President from administration-friendly “news” outlets in the months and years to come as modern-day “journalism” continues to take a nosedive.
