Fifty years ago, North Carolina was the cradle of the “New South” and began to trade yellow-dog Democrat values for business-friendly policies. But over time, people from the Northeast began to trickle in. Much like illegal immigrants from Mexico, they were lured in by opportunity but they brought their Eastern liberal values with them. Then came the retirees from the east; they came for the mild climate and natural beauty but they never shed their Progressive ideology. What I find most disconcerting, however, is that the Universities in N.C. are as “Progressive” as can be found anywhere. The mind-numbed graduates are fanning out across the state and spreading their ideology like a cancer wherever they go. People and businesses are fleeing N.C. for S.C. for lower taxes and greater economic freedom. I fear that N.C. might have gone the full circle..
