Rep. Sheila @JacksonLeeTX18: Constitution is “400 years” old (VIDEO)

This could be considered humorous … or sad, depending on which way you look at it and maybe how your day went today. :)

Via the Washington Free Beacon, which filed this brief recap:

“Maybe I should offer a good thanks to the distinguished members of the majority, the Republicans, my chairman and others, for giving us an opportunity to have a deliberative constitutional discussion that reinforces the sanctity of this nation and how well it is that we have lasted some 400 years, operating under a constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not,” she said.

That would be seven years after Jamestown, Virginia became America’s first permanent English settlement.

Ellen Carmichael has a more complete transcript, just for the record:

Oops …

Shaking my head.

  1. Name off the real intellectual pygmies in Congress. Virtually every one of them has a (D) behind their name…

Obviously, when Jackson-Lee was a small child and her mother told her to go play in the street, she did. And the brain damage has been permanent.

  2. everytime i hear one of these statements from ms jachson-lee i’m reminded that she is a graduate of an ivy league institution of longer education. so much for that superior education.

somewhere in houston, texas there has to be a more competent black democrat.

  3. Congresswoman Lee once again demonstrates the total and complete lack of intelligence that should be required for anyone in a legislative position in government. This is not the first time she has come out with astonishingly brilliant comments–recalling some of her other gems. And I want to add that she is NOT alone in her ignorance of our government, how it operates, and the US Constitution, which so many Democrats were insulted when asked to read aloud. Senator Chucky Schumer came out with another brilliant comments about 3 years ago. Reminding everyone that there are 3 branches of government: the House, the Senate, and the President. Thanks, Chucky… for that gem.

  4. But, but, Brontefan! Why should Chucky Cheezy be concerned with any knowledge of the law, the Constitution, or any other mundane samesuch when there may be a camera to pose in front of.

  5. Those of you who have made disparaging remarks about what Sheila Jackson Lee has had to say, will find that the joke is on you when you read what the link below has to say under the subtitle heading JURISDICTION. The question that would then be of interest is whether or not you have any sense of decency to apologize for your less than sensitive comments –

  6. How many current members of the United States Congress could pass the citizenship test every LEGAL immigrant HAS to take?

  7. @ sixhonestservingmen:

Obviously, you’re a troll, but let me respond anyway.

Ms. Jackson-Lee has, over the years, said some of the dumbest things during that time period on the floor of the House, in spite of stiff competition from a gaggle of other jackasses (mostly Dem, but some Repubs).

She has also had her share of legally questionable activities.

So please, don’t plead an empty case for a brainless twit. Those honest enough to figure out how she uses her office to further her personal agenda will see right through what you plead, and those blind enough not to care won’t be persuaded by my side, either.
