ops:A reference to this editorial posted in its entirety was removed from the Yahoo Bulletin Board yesterday. I first saw it on the RMBS Financial Message board and when I went back to forward same to friends it had been purged from the web site.

Kathy, first I had to shorten your link as it was causing scrolling problems with my Recent Posts section on the left hand side but the link is still thre, just shortened.

Second, if you’d clicked on the link I had to the Mudline Gazette blog I posted, you’d have seen that they mentioned that GWB’s hometown paper endorsed him. That’s one of the reasons I posted the headline “why the Lowell MA endorsement is so significant” (paraphrasing).

Yes your link did reference the endorsement, but the body of the editorial was not available. You may find the Lowell paper endorsement significant, but the reason that the “liberal press” did not pick up on it is because it was not news. Offering and publishing dissenting opinions is common in many places in this country. It is however ironic that the adopted home town of our President who does not allow opposing views to voiced at any of his public campaign appearances without the risk of being arrested seems more than a little ironic to quite a few people. Out of curiosity does anyone know who the Kennebunkport paper is supporting?

You’re right – it wasn’t to them. But the word of GWB’s home town endorsing Kerry in an OPINION EDITORIAL sure was a big deal. Not surprising it’d get played up by the press and not surprising that the press didn’t give a fig about the Lowell paper endorsing Bush.

Yep, and that’s what the Lowell endorsement of Bush and the endorsement
of Kerry in Bush’s hometown were, yet we heard the most about the Kerry endorsement. I’m not sure what relevance your comment has to what we’re discussing.

It’d be ironic if it were true. Maybe the GOP can hire Al Franken to tackle unruly protesters. Oh wait – it’d have to be a DNC campaign stop for him to take action.

Me: 1) Please don’t give me opinion pieces and try to pass them off as fact. Two that incident wasn’t at a public campaign appearance for the President, but for his wife. You got that part wrong. 3rd, the woman was disrupting the First Lady’s speech and refusing to be respectful. Here’s a link that’s not from an opinion piece that tells us what happened:

**Bush supporters around her tried to drown her out by repeatedly shouting, “Four more years.” Some people inside the firehouse scoffed at Niederer as she was being escorted out by police. She was handcuffed and put into a police van after she refused to move from near the front doors. After being taken to Hamilton police headquarters, Niederer was given a summons for defiant trespassing. **

Why did you try to pass this woman off as a peaceful protestor who was handcuffed for simply voicing disent instead of what she was doing, which was disrupting the first lady’s speaking engagement and essentially trespassing?

I disagree with your version of this event partly because I watched the video. Sue Niederer was calmly answering reports questions outside the event when the police came and arrested her.

To your point that my cite was to a campaign stop for the First Lady and not the President. Here are some other links more on point…
