CBS/CNN bias watch

Bill Hobbs is on the case regarding CBS’s reporting of voter registration fraud allegations in Nevada and uh, just a few allegations about the other side in some other states that they conveniently left out of their story.

I present evidence of the CNN bias here.

I’ve searched both the CNN and CBS websites and see nothing about ACORN anywhere. I consider myself a reasonably good user of search engines, so if someone wants to point out to me any articles there related to the investigations into ACORN, please enlighten yours truly.

YOu call it moral relativism. I call it staying focused on the real issues. I don’t see how the ability to cast provisional ballots in Ohio can be included in listing of “allegations about the other side”.

I have yet to see anything that shows you are interested in preserving the process. I am fairly certain from what I have read and seen that the Republican party leadership is not. They are only interested in getting re-elected at the expense of our individual rights and freedom. The pillar of which rests with our right to vote and for our vote to count. Suing the court to make sure that the people who may accidentally show up at the wrong precinct is not an attempt to take that away. Deliberately discarding voter registration forms because the individual did not check of the right box when it came to race, religion or political party is. So, no, you are not focusing on the big picture when you miss that some of the people in power are systematically excluding people from the process.

You can lecture me about voter registration fraud right after you get to criticizing your own party for engaging in questionable tactics. I have done so already. Will you? Or will you continue to give your party a free pass on anything and everything under the sun?

If you think that giving Ohioans the ability to vote in the wrong precinct is ok, you go right ahead but you’re wrong. I’ve seen diehard LIBERALS come down against this because it’s a recipe for disaster. The voter rolls are divided up by the place they vote and because there is no system of checks and balances in place to find out whether or not the voter has already voted at one polling place, voters can vote in a multitude of polling places without anyone knowing.

Sounds like you have been drinking the Kool Aid again. Both Ben Ginsberg and David Boise agree that provisional ballots are a good thing. They are the result of legislation that was passed after the 2000 election when many people were unable to cast a vote after they showed up at their designated polling place and through error or by design were left off the voter roles. There is the potential for abuse if those overseeing the election are either incompetent or allow partisan bias to interfere with their jobs. So the real problem isn’t with the people who are registering voters and are being prosecuted now. It is with the officials who are counting the ballots later, Republican or Democrat. If they do not act in the interest of our democracy and our country instead of their chosen party we run the chance of our citizens loosing faith in the entire process. In which case we are all sunk.

2 things: one I see you still won’t condemn people in your party for their questionable tactics and two, I don’t drink the party “kool aid.” If you think I’m that stupid, you’ve not been paying much attention.

No one said you were stupid just indoctrinated. My response was not along party lines. As I said two of the greatest legal minds from each party agreed that provisional ballots are a good thing. Yet you are coming out against them because you say it is a “recipe for disaster” and this posting equated a lawsuit forcing districts in Ohio to provide those ballots as an example of voter fraud. I’ll say it again the potential for disaster is not that some individual citizen will try to manipulate the system. The potential disaster is that elected officials will use their power to further their parties goals to making decisions that effect hundreds of thousands or even millions of voters. Like Glenda Hood in Florida or Tom Delay in Texas (feel free to add a few Democrats if you would like.) I am not in favor of anyone manipulating the system, Republicans, Democrats, or Independents for that matter. However, as for pointing fingers at the Democrats, I will leave that to you and the other contributors to your site. I just wish you would stop creating fraud where there is none. If you don’t like the Voting Rights Act that allows for provisional ballots write to your Congressman, Senator and President. Making accusations of fraud against people who are working completely with the letter and the spirit of the law doesn’t do anyone any good. In fact it damages the faith in the process upon which all citizens of our democracy rely.
