Tuesday open thread

I’m swamped this morning, so I wanted to go ahead and post the link for the open thread so ya’ll could discuss amongst yourselves the hot news items of the day. I’ll be uploading my interview from this morning’s Allman and Smash show shortly.

JC on a pogo stick! The left has absolutely no morals or ethics, and the wonder why leftist/socialist governments always wind up being fascist dictators that kill millions. If you can’t even muster up the ethics to be truthful and honest, it’s a slipery slope from their to mass murder, because you can then justify anything if you rationalize hard enough.

Would love to see him in his uniform meet up in a dark alley with some real Rangers, that’d be worth a pay per view ticket.

Joseph Goebbels would be proud! As would Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, and Kim Jong Il. Such wonderful role models the left have.

Just got back from The Sandbox link of the latest libtard joke at Protein Wisdom. ST doesn’t like me swearing so, suffice to say that the featured imposter has more holes in his story than the leadman at the swiss cheese factory in Tillamook, Oregon.

If down is a good direction, they are doing great as the most clueless group ever to gut themselves on their own stupidity.

Atlanta police officer Ray Bunn has been indicted for killing the perp in a stolen SUV that was trying to run the officer down.

Three years after the fact and his return from a year of active duty in Iraq, the DA bows to the pressure from the radical activists. Now a family of five children, wife and husband are in jeopardy. A man sworn to uphold the laws of this land as a police officer, has his entire family being terrorized by rascist bigots that pressured a gutless DA.

If this story is as it reads, then some intercession by a higher authority needs to be done immediately. This is the second time I’ve received word about this through Newsmax.com and it’s a disgusting twist of events. Has anyone else seen this?

Wasn’t there an SUV on some campus not to long ago, trying to kill or at least turn a bunch of kids into jack stands.

The difference being nobody was able to prevent that jerk from accomplishing, at least in part, his mission and he got to drive away. Now that he’s in custody, the taxpayers can feed him until they turn him back out into the streets.

Not unlike the common practice being done daily with illegal aliens, after serving jail time for various crimes.

Here is an article about Katrina and how the media purposefully/accidentally (who knows they just do) got it wrong .

In it is these two paragraphs:

From the Dome, the Louisiana Guard’s main command ran at least 2,500 troops who rode out the storm inside the city, a dozen emergency shelters, 200-plus boats, dozens of high-water vehicles, 150 helicopters, and a triage and medical center that handled up to 5,000 patients (and delivered 7 babies). The Guard command headquarters also coordinated efforts of the police, firefighters and scores of volunteers after the storm knocked out local radio, as well as other regular military and other state Guard units.

Jack Harrison, a spokesman for the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Virginia, cited “10,244 sorties flown, 88,181 passengers moved, 18,834 cargo tons hauled, 17,411 saves” by air. Unlike the politicians, they had a working chain of command that commandeered more relief aid from other Guard units outside the state. From day one.

As has been reported, when the Superdome was established as a shelter of last resort on the weekend before Katrina hit, the Louisiana National Guard sent several hundred soldiers there who were trained in policing and crowd control. They also, as rarely noted, stocked huge quantities of combat rations, also known as Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), and water, both of which were never in short supply, according to Maj. Ed Bush, who was inside the Dome the whole time.

This one is quite a perspective also:

–Many survivors in the Dome complained of food and water shortages, a charge that reverberated through the media echo chamber. According to Maj. Bush, the Guard stuck to strict rationing – one MRE and one liter of water per day, exactly what troops got in combat in Iraq. Because so many victims were being brought in so quickly in an open-ended rescue operation, the Guard wasn’t taking any chances of running out of supplies by opening an all-you-can eat buffet. It started out with a 3-day supply for ten thousand people, and ultimately brought in 300,000 MREs and 397,000 liter bottles of water, a 30-day supply for 10,000 people. And as Maj. Bush points out, there wasn’t a single death from dehydration

This was an interesting paragraph as well:

Governor Kathleen Blanco, meanwhile, had a direct pipeline to the command center and clearly knew what was going on, which might explain why she maintained her authority over the Guard and resisted calls from the President to federalize it. It also explains her apparent callousness to those stuck in the Dome – she knew the real situation was not as bad as the media was reporting. At the very least, she deserves credit for standing up to the national media and following the advice of the junior officers on the scene.

I say the media deserves an “F”. I say the Guard and 100’s of other organizations providing relief deserve an “A”. And I think the demagogues on the left who fail to have perspective should apologize for their senseless attacks and put more effort into the truth.

– Why would you think they’d want to do that Bak. Better to argue vague things like breaks versus overflow, just anything to keep the “Bush bad” meme going. None of them give a damn about NO, or its people. Only to the extent they can be used for political purposes. Now that the press value is gone, both the drive by media and the Left have forgotten about Katrina.
